I will be the first person to tell you about the wonders of hype. It’s ever-present in everything that you see and or buy almost. It is a very rare event to find something that lives up to the hype and all the praise before it dies out to something newer. The Sundara is one of those things that live up to the hype and praise if used with the right setup (clean and balanced DAC and AMP)and EQ. My Custom EQ delivers me that perfect timber and grunt in voices and yet never killing off the Mids or Treble and delivering the rich balanced Bass without noticeable roll-offs.

So instead of having to buy another $500 headphones to get more bass out of the songs…I have it with the EQ. And it is this reason why a lot of purists hate people using EQ’s because they know the majority of their equipment was purchased simply to get a 5-10% boost in an area that could have easily been EQ’d on the previous headphone and they don’t want to accept that. Things like the XS people are praising the headphone for more bass than the Sundara’s by default have. Well, I don’t have that problem. The Bass is pure and perfectly balanced and thanks to the Planar Driver Hifiman put in it…faster and more resolving than any other headphones I have had prior.

Now just before you confused this happy praise with exclusivity, I assure none exists in this world. Just as fast as I can find you a Sundara, there is an Aeon Noire that exists, a 660s, or DT 1990 out there that I can add my EQ and my Dac and Amp to and they will create similar happiness from them with their own unique signature sound. And the same can be said of the DAC and Amp as well, actually more so because they are at a point where even $1000 amps and DACs aren’t out-performing in sound smaller and lower cost ones. But I guess my point is that at the price point of $269 brand new on Amazon, the Sundara is the best I’ve ever seen as a total cost to performance ratio that stops at the law of diminishing return limit. Making this unit the best Headphone I have ever seen that doesn’t break the Law of Diminishing returns and has nothing that matches it anywhere in this world that I have seen.

Finally, all this amounts to one truth and one truth only. ENDGAME! You see we already know that you will never find a better Amp and Dac than the Topping L50/E50…They measure too low beyond human hearing for distortion and are completely neutral. Dead floor ceiling of 0.00006% beyond anything I will ever hear. It’s small enough and already balanced. I have my port for XLR and earphones. It’s not going to get better than this without coloring the sound. And finally, the Sundara’s are in itself Beautiful personified. I have absolutely nothing more I want from a single headphone period. It is outstandingly humanly perfect. Better than the V-shaped signatures of the XS, better than the timber of the ananda and Arya. And differently better priced than the overrated Arya Stealth edition. Better than the driver finally Focal series headphones, better than the DT 1990 overall analytical signature, better than the warm U shape sounds of the Aeon’s, and wider than any soundstage the Sennheiser 600 series can provide while killing the bass of the 800s. No headphone is better than this headphone at matching perfectly the Law of Diminishing returns with price to performance better than the Hifiman Sundara. And nothing feels better on my head and ears than this product. I absolutely dig the way it looks …all the way to the box itself. And most importantly I know I don’t have to wonder about other things being better enough to matter because unlike all other products I find nothing wanting from its performance.
