Look I know a lot of people swear by Bang and Olufsen. I use to myself but times and technology has changed. These days…you are only as good as your last product. And the B&O play EQ being one of their latest products for Bang and Olufsen…well, let’s just say “the hype isn’t real”.

So for starters I got mine for a $230 …not the stupid price of $399. I’ve said it before and I will continue to say it…Bluetooth earphones are never worth more than $250. I don’t care what they can do or how they look. Nor do I care about brand loyalty. So if not for the price I got mine for didn’t exist …I would have never purchased them. Once I got them I had all kinds of problems from just connecting them to the unit’s battery being dead upon arrival. Once I got all that sorted the app was the next thing I had problems with. The unit would not load or recognize the just released firmware. So I called B&O and gave them my serial number and they concluded that it was still under warranty and if it wouldn’t see the update they needed to be exchanged which made no sense being that it was the software that had no recorded update available even when there was one for weeks. And the update I was needed was the new control skim that allowed forward track operations on the earphone(who ships without the ability to forward or rewind a track on the earphone???) .

So I decided to just deal with it because again…this was the top dog that everyone claimed. And as I listened and adjusted the app and my EQ circle, I found out clearly that the earphone magic people bragged on was artificial. It created unnecessary and forced soundstages in songs that only damaged the clarity and DNA of the song, much like a artificial 3d sound option would do. Songs sound far away and lacked details. Volume also lower than average earphones also hurt the performance. Next was the overall huge hulking looks and feels of the EQ’s. They were even bigger than the Sport E8’s. My Ear became sore trying to push the fit securely in my ears. It was just a hot mess of a product. And lastly the battery life was nothing close to what they claimed. While promising 6+ hours …you get like 4.5 hours.

At the end of the day…these earphones are a joke compared to what the hype was on them. I can’t believe how many people fell for these earphones especially in the sound and comfort department. The battery life sucks and phone quality sucks on top of that. And all this before you come to the understanding that you have no ability to change tracks on your earphones. Do they have a update for the track change…yes but again my ap never received it so I could push it over. And against things like the Liberty 3 pro who absolutely destroyed these earphones in sound quality, comfort, and features at a price of $160 …I have no idea why anyone bothers with any other choices for their Bluetooth earphones.
