For the couple of years this knife has been out a lot of people took great liberties at complaining about this knife toughness. The 3v steel, which normally is praised was found to be a little softer than most people’s consideration. Benchmade either made a mistake or misjudged the importance of this factor with the majority of the fans. Either way they have gone back and corrected this flaw. If you have a 2021 or 2022 model …chances are that you have a corrected hardness 3v for the Bailout, which is awesome.

So once the complaints created ownership by benchamde, the business of just being a knife and using a knife became something to be proud of again. And this is where I took over. Getting this knife and adding them the ranks of the knives I already own surprisingly had shocking results. It became my first choice, beating out my Spyderco Sage 5. Yes…of all the knives I’ve owned…this look…weight…feel…and blade design hold me tighter than any other knife I have ever had to date. The gun metal like looks of the blade matched by that Matt black handles just screams “match” to everything I wear and have.

It feels like it was designed to fit my life. And I love how it blends in with it. Cutting task feel special:). Putting it into my pocket feels special and light weight. Even flicking it open and close has a more satisfying sound to it. Basically all the little things adding up to something that just matches your life and look means it something pretty special. And just as the name implies …it has bailed me out on more than one occurrence.

At the end of the day I don’t believe there is just one knife for all of us. You will have to decide if this road leads to something you accept and like. I can’t force you to see what I see in it. So what you end up for you next knife is just as much personal as it is unique to who you are as a individual. And this is what I have in my choice in this knife.
