Look…at the risk of sounding like a broken record, I have to get this off my chest again. Apples magic touches people because they make differences in peoples lives and it’s ease on everyone from the youngest of minds to the oldest of souls. Apple understands it’s one thing to create a cool product and a completely other task to make the product connect to others when they need it to the most. Those are things that tie people to products. When you cried for the first time playing a video game … the console that you played that game on matters and means more moving forward. Or the smartphone you saved 3 years to get on your own when you were in school, finally showing up at your door the night when you got your first kiss means something more than the product. It’s the moments that come along side the products that define our connection to the product. It’s why my AirPods Pro will mean something to me that no other person can connect with. And this applies to other products and even things like Teams or Favorite colors. If you manage to associate something meaningful with the product use then you have managed to create Moments of meaning.
So this time I witnessed my mother gain a joy for her AirPods Pro’s that she has never had before. And once again something simple led to this. Apples included extra small ear tips has meant more than I thought it would mean. My mother and I guess more than I thought existed, dealt with the reality that earphone don’t fit their small ears. I have brought my mother every single small earphone I could think of. And all of them failed to be useful to my mother because she could never get them to stay. We had thought that AirPods Pro (gen1) would be the one that she needed but it wasn’t. So my mother put them into the cabinet along with every other earphone I bought her prior. So once I installed my gen 2 extra small tips that work with the gen1 AirPods Pro’s my mothers world changed. She was so happy to finally be able to use her AirPods Pro’s. She spent the next 2 hours smiling and trying different Siri commands and music with her newly found joy of having earphones fit for the first time in her life and seeing that joy created another bound moment for me, Apple and the AirPods Pro’s! It can’t be duplicated and can’t be faked. It either connects to special moments or it doesn’t. It’s is yet again why there is nothing more I want in my ears and why I have put up for sale every single earphone I have not called AirPods Pro’s.
