Since the launch of the Ps5, the most glaring issue that this console has ever had is the controller battery life. It has been a joke for years and has never gotten better. Of all the things that Playsation got right with the controller, the battery life just wasn’t one of those things. Xbox on the other hand, while they used batteries, gave an almost 3x more battery life, if not more, over the Playstation 5. So when Playstation decided to finally come out with another controller for the Ps5, I, like many was excited about the possibility of a super controller that would not only give us the customization like the Xbox Elite controllers but would finally correct the biggest complaint about the previous controller, the battery life. At $200, we got the custom exchangeable parts and the paddles behind the base of the controllers. But not only did the folks at Sony fail to make the controller battery life better but they made it worst. And before the fanboys out there start to doubt what I’m saying, it was not even others reporting this but Playstation themselves. Saying that the controller has slightly fewer battery hours than the original. So basically without the word slightly …what they mean to say is that it’s worst than the first mistake we made with the original controller. But yet they still want that $200.

So this leaves you with the Razor Ps5 controller as your only other option. Theirs cost more at $250, doesn’t have the haptics but at least can get you 20+ hours out of the controller if you turn off the RGB. So now you have to ask yourself, which one do you want to go with, if any. At $200 minimal, it’s a tall ask for anyone to buy into these controllers when they don’t truly deliver the same or better experience. But ultimately it’s up to you to decide for yourself. Me, personally, I don’t believe either one of these controllers is worth that $200+ price tag. And I’m really shocked that the PlayStation version of the elite controller didn’t just handle the business of correcting the mistakes before they thought to add options to the controller.
