“On Cyber Monday, Lego was the most sought-after product, followed by the playstation 5 game console, Hot Wheels brand toys, copies of Madden NFL 23 and smartwatches.”

Microsoft and Activision might be the talk of the governmental debates but for the gamers out there there is still only one console they consider the most important on their list…and that’s the Playstation 5. According to reports of the US market for Christmas, a market that should be ruled by Microsoft as it’s within its own backyard, buyers are interested in what to get their loved ones for Christmas stands with Legos and Ps5. In fact, the Xbox consoles (S or X) were not on buyer’s list of the top 5 things most wanted for Christmas, not even The Switch was on the top 5 things. That kind of news paints a dark picture of the importance of what Microsoft is doing with its direction for gaming. As it stands today, Microsoft has done all but give their consoles and games away inside cereal boxes. You can get day-one releases of all Exclusive games from Microsoft and you can also get their highest tier system for free as long as you agree to pay for Gamepass for agreed amount of years. So the entry barrier into the gaming world should be quite easy for anyone if they want to get into gaming with Microsoft. And this is before the deal with Activision is finalized, which most reports believe will be the case. So the momentum should be on the side of Microsoft. However, the history of mismanagement of game releases for 2022 ( yet again) and failures to show up at the last Gamer Choice Awards seems to have really hurt a lot of that forward motion that Microsoft had. And with Microsoft already being down 8 million and counting prior, the damage to the deficient might add more to that number once all is counted up at the end of the month. If this proves to be correct, the Activision deal going through might add more money to Microsoft to help make up for the 70 billion they spent on the deal but the ground with gamers overall remains a hill not yet figured out and Microsoft could very well be looking at the dreaded 10 million console lead from Sony over their Xbox numbers long before Call of Duty and Activision ever start to make any positive pushes for their company in the mindshare of the gamers who have spoken with their wallet. And this, despite some Fanboys hopes of a different generation for Xbox, might just be again …yet another mirrored result from all other previous generations where PlayStation ultimately took control of the sales numbers and never looked back after they reached the 10 million console lead.
