Great, great job Microsoft! Engadget reported today that according to sources inside Microsoft…the company that just laid down 80 billion on Activision is planning 11,000 employee layoffs. That’s 11,000 people that are about to be jobless after Microsoft recently went on a 50,000-employee hiring spree because of the money they made during Covid (which was never sustainable). And instead saving this money, they felt 50,000 extra people wouldn’t be overkill to hire. Well, turns out it was if this report is true. This is the same company that is claiming that xbox is better and profitable still, even though they are now down 10 million consoles to the Playstation. So again, what we see is mismanagement yet again. And this mismanagement is about to cost people’s jobs, all the while they’re beating their chest about all the studios and games they will acquire once the 80 billion deal goes through. I wonder how those 11,000 people will feel about Microsoft claiming that can’t afford them while it lay down 80 billion to buy more studios and games. And this is just another long list of things mismanaged by Microsoft, from Coalition and Halo 343 studios, along with the many games franchises like Quantum Break and Ryse: Son of Rome that they flat-out threw away and mismanaged as well. And you wonder why the FTC, EU, and others have questions about Microsoft controlling even more. If you can’t properly manage what you have, why are you wasting money to gain more? This doesn’t seat well with me and I bet thousands of others that will soon find out they are no longer needed or affordable while Microsoft drops 80 billion and smiles. Look, I get that companies need to cut sometimes, but doing this while you spend 80 billion is just not a good look in my opinion.
