Well over 2 years after the launch of the Airpod max’s, Apple has continued to sell them and people have continued to talk about them and use them for that span of time faithfully. Reports and reviews alike have given them tons of praise and some fair share of criticism. The universal complaint about the bra-like case seems to be the most overwhelming followed by the Price tag of course. Other things like weight were mentioned as well but this was more subjectable than the others. Since then there have been updates and some other accessories that have made the Airpods Max a more usable item, such as the cases that started popping up to help the unit go to sleep mode without the need for a Bra. And of course, people getting their custom designed to stand out in the crowd of users. But of this all, one thing you can’t fault Apple for is the quality of the headphones. They are well built and very highly praised for their looks and the material used for the headphone.

Another thing that they were well accepted for was the sound thanks to all the work that Apple put into the drivers they used for the Airpods Max. The Sound is Warm, inviting, very detailed, and spacious thanks to the ear-cup design. Now, will it hit you like the Sony’s or the Sennheisers do in Bass? I say no, but that’s not to say that the Airpods Max’s don’t have nice bass, it really does, just more controlled. And for me, where these get me is with the ear-cup space. I’m a sucker when it comes to Spacious ear-cups that fit around your ears like a cup with nothing touching them, something that the Sony’s can’t boast about as they do not surround your ears without touching. And that spacing really does add to the sound staging and separation of the instruments and sounds in a track. This also helps them remain better at details on all Genres of music, not just Bassey styles. And because of this, I think I find myself wearing them longer than I thought I would because of their heavier weight. I thought this would be a problem but because of the way they are designed with the band mesh, the weight is evenly balanced on the head and you actually don’t feel them for hours, at least I don’t. Will you notice them coming from the Sony’s or other lighter headphones? Probably yes, but after you get used to them, they won’t seem as big of a deal to you because they remain comfortable for hours thanks to their design and battery life of 20 hours(which is more than enough). And this is coming from a person that had 30 hours of battery life prior to these and I can’t tell you that notice any real perceivable difference in 30 vs 20 in my everyday use.

So then you take the fact that if you buy them, you more than likely are an iPhone owner, and if you are an iPhone owner then it’s kind of a no-brainer for you to end up with these for your travel needs or couch needs. It’s going to give you still one of the very best Noise-canceling on the market still after over 2 years on the market. Adaptive EQ and Spatial Audio. It’s going to still connect you seamlessly with your other Apple products and Siri automatically. And getting that phone call from your smartphone when you’re listening to a podcast on your laptop or IPad and simply telling Siri “Yes” when she asked you if you want to talk to the person she has identified without even so much as a touch of a button is priceless. And speaking of Price, yes it’s still $500-$600 after 2 years on the market. So this headphone doesn’t come cheap still and you better know that you know that you really, really want it because yes..there are other ways to go about music for your on-the-go needs that are much cheaper. But none will give you the seamless connection to all your apple products, Transparency Mode, Adaptive EQ, Build quality, top-level comfort, and of course that Apple Magic connection to its community that so many are addicted to. So I guess the true victory is that after more than 2 years on the market and after all these other products launched like the Sennheisers and Sony’s, Apple still remains a very real and serious option for anyone on Apple still today and it’s a very hard case to sell not using the Apple Air-pods Max even at the same launched price they were over 2 years ago.

Personally, I think it’s a shame that Apple still remains an option at the price they are asking still after 2 years and their rivals in other brands have launched a new product at least twice and yet Apple still sales and nobody can truly put a product out that can stop them after this long on the market. At the end of the day you have to decide what is best and I think this choice truly comes down to price and format. If you have the money to blow and you own a iPhone…these make more sense than anything else on the market. But if you are like the average person(which most are)…the Sonys will be the direction for the most people and it shows in the sale figures. Sony xm4’s and 5’s has sold more headphones than AirPods Max’s. Just like android format phones vs Apple format phones. So if that matters …there’s your answer as well. But for me I’m going with the Airpod Max. Everything tech in my life and my wife’s have come down to Apple. So it’s only logical to have the Max’s as my headphones of choice. And so I will sell my xm5 and close that book of android centered devices finally, as it was the last one in my house.
