Yes, we have addressed the fact that the airpod max are still the best sounding headphones on the market with the most advantages and total package. Yes, we have shown how this justifies the money asked of it. But the real question for those who have not yet purchased them in 2023 is are they worth buying today? That’s a very hard question. For starters, as I have addressed, after two years being on the market, the Airpod Max still has no competition that equals to the vast amount of things it can do on a iPhone or IOS device when it pertains to headphones. All other so-called competitors aren’t connected to the iOS devices like the AirPods Max. They don’t have integrated connectivity and syncs to the cloud or Siri, they don’t have adaptive EQ or Spatial audio. And because of this, this means they will never function the way AirPods Max function and therefore can’t truly compete with Apple’s headphone. So on that since you should be safe right? Nope! Because the biggest threat to buying the AirPods Max in 2023 is Apple itself.
You see, Apple will soon come out with the Airpod Max 2’s. The problem is, nobody knows for sure when. People all over the internet are predicting everything from this year to next year or later. But the bottom line is that they don’t know. So what you end up with is a situation that your $600 could be spent today and next month the Apple Airpod Max could be revealed. And that is why the $600 in 2023 might not be the smartest thing you do with your money. Even if it’s next year, you basically spent $600 to rent a pair of headphones for a year because you know that you will want to get the new ones as soon as they come out and won’t be happy with yours anymore.
But, what if the new pair of Max’s don’t actually sound better? What if they only made them in new colors and without the purse? Or what if they just gave them more battery life and a USB C Jack finally? Is that enough? For me, my question has to be with the sound. What am I gaining in sound that justifies me purchasing the Airpod Max 2? What it can’t be is just a Airpod Max S, a version without the hangups of a purse or lightening port. It better be something that produces better and noticeable sound over the original and it better not just be for Apple Music that you get this difference from like it is with spatial audio. But if they can produce a clear difference that is better by its default and give me a different look with the same comfort or better..then I’m in. And in that scenario I would feel that the airpod max purchasing for 2023 would be a waste of money. But if this isn’t produced then the Airpod Max are still a good purchase in 2023.
