With my headphone game on lock, wired and Bluetooth. I now turn to the wired earphones as the next big adventure. This was something I didn’t think I needed to look into until my Blessing 2 Dusk right driver blew. Before then I was clearly done with which was the best. I had the best as far as any of my needs were concerned. The Blessing 2 is universally accepted as one of the highest rated and talked about IEMs in the world. What I didn’t understand was that the including of things like my iPhone, Apple dongle, and 24 but audio from Apple Music, gave me connection to life on the hifi realm again where I was able to pull out the KZ ks10 Pros from my back up to try again. These things are 10 driver powered IEMs like the Blessing 2 dusk, but they only ran $50, not $300. And with the Blessing 2 dusk down for me, I was forced to spend more time with the KZ’s. And boy am I glad I did.

The clarity, bass, and soundstage with separation is so so so, very good. I’m really blown away that this much power and audiophile superiority could come from a IEM at this price range. The resolution and frequency ranges are the stuff that all other $500-$1000 earphone try and duplicate. They look fantastic and are decent in comfort. Maybe not custom design feel but very nice nonetheless.

I mean this thing kills it in the stat department. Yes, I know this doesn’t promise perfect tones and sound for all but at least they delivered there, especially at $50. So with that said, it sparked me to get back to doing some comparisons. And so tomorrow two great IEMs are coming to my hands tomorrow so I can do the official 3 gun showdown.

Sennheiser Ie200 is first up. I’ve been away from Sennheiser IE’s for years. I remember how great they use to be when I was in college. I’ve been wanting to get a new pair of their IE’s for years. And now I have the chance to do so. I am going to really love to see how this earphone competes against the KZ’s. A lot of praise has gone out about this earphone. They compare it to the $700 IE600 and $300 IE300. And in a lot of case people have picked the IE200 over them both. So that got me really thinking hard about them but when I saw a sell price and 1 day shipment, it was over from that very moment.

And then the big boy of the show is making a return in a different color, the Kato Dark Blue by Moondrop. Being that I lost my Moondrop Blessings 2 thanks to driver failure, I thought I would return back to the only other Moondrop that has ever blown my mind and that was the Kato. If I remember, the sound quality was the most lush, rich, and intimate sound I have ever experienced in my life. And the only reason I returned them was because they were really scratched prone. And while the blue is still shinny, I don’t believe they will scratch as bad as the mirror finish on the default silver. Yes, I could have gone with the Stone finish, but I really didn’t like the look of it.
And so tomorrow the Kato and IE 200 take on the KZ Ks10 Pros. I know most will say that it’s not a fair fight. But I will say that it might just be because the level of detail, soundstage and overall clarity and punch I am getting right now is truly going to be hard to defeat especially at $50. So again, if God willing.. tomorrow will be very fun and I will decide who stays or who is sold or returned. Honestly, now that I think about it, I’m not selling the KZ’s regardless of the result. Even as a back up for $50, they are just too good. And the truly sad thing about it, is that they outlasted my $300+ Blessing 2 dusk, so something has to be said about that. So really the only question is if one of the other two stay or are both returned for not being able to beat a simple little $50 earphone. Tomorrow should be one for the ages:).
