The Atomic bomb has been dropped. Just when all the competitors took to the field to fight, the Kato dropped an Atomic bomb and ended the war. The way these things sit in my ears with the Spring tips is unlike any other earphone in the world today for me. I thought the Sennheiser’s were comfortable as well but this just makes things so much better because of the weight distribution. And strangely enough the heavier IEM just has better quality feel. From it’s packaging to the the storage case, to the build of the body of the IEM. All of it screams superiority over all others. Especially over the very weak and cheap presentation the Sennheiser IE 200 and the KZ had.

The Moondrop Kato Blue is possibly the most beautiful Earphones I have ever seen in my life. That blue and the chrome are so rich and inviting. And like I said the Spring tips advantage of having them in my ears and they just stay because of the way the material hugs your inside ears just hasn’t been seen before in any other earphone. The case cut and design is like Art, even the box it comes in screams quality. And that cord! OMG the best cord I have ever had for an IEM still today. The weight and thickness are perfect and they deliver very minimal microphonic and or memory unlike the Sennheiser IE200 cables who create horrible loud microphonic sounds.

And now we get down to the sound. That warm, lush, intimate sound of the Kato is just perfect for anyone looking for this kind of option. It has very nice timbre, tonality, bass, and treble along with a decent mid range that just makes the whole thing round off perfectly. This is in contrast to the Kz KS10 who although they had great details and soundstage, they fail to match the Kato’s timbre, tonality, and fit. And the Sennheiser IE200 who always seem to give me headaches on the left side of my head and ear for some reason. Maybe the shape of the earphone vs the shape of my left ear conflicted with a nerve or something but regardless…pain isn’t a thing I ignore with tech. They just don’t belong.
The packaging for the Kato is the only thing that is equal in quality with the IEMS. They really outdid themselves with all the attention to details Moondrop put into this IEM package(yes it’s the same inside for the standard silver model). You can tell this unit is their love-child and they sparred no expense at making sure everyone that bought this unit would feel special too. Something neither the Sennheiser or KZ’s did.

I also don’t hear that ugly heartbeat in my ears when I use the earphones like I get with all other other one but the Kato. And this is because they don’t sit on the ears and almost suspended or floating inside my ears thanks to those spring tips. This could easily be my last pair of IEMs for real. I wouldn’t have stuck with the Blessings 2 even though they weren’t the most comfortable or easy fitting IEM. But when their driver failed on me that put an end to it. But as long as these Kato’s work as they do now and don’t kill over in the drivers as intended, I just can’t see myself going to get another IEM because none of them are going to deliver like this.

At the end of the day, my taste won’t be yours always. And sometimes I can make mistakes, like I did with this earphone when I returned it(the mirror silver version) because I was just too concern over the scratches and wanted the Blessing 2 dusk that everyone claimed was the best. Now, more than a year after that and I find myself buying back the Kato not another Blessing earphone because the Blessing 2 dusk failed for no reason at all. And when I look at all of this all I see is that the Kato had the most profound impact over me even over the blessing 2 dusk. So honestly I’m just extremely happy I found my way back to them but at a even prettier look than before.
Are there more earphones out there that could be better? I bet you money that they are. But for me this is my tech mate product. Since I got this back into my hands, it didn’t matter what else exist, they aren’t these and that is all I care about now. Sometimes you get things and you never match the level of enjoyment you felt with a product even with so-called better products. And this is what this product is to me. Even with the Moondrop blessing 2 dusk, I never had the same thrill nor the fit/feel of the Moondrop Kato. So you find something else is great for you instead and that’s perfectly fine. I’m not saying buy the Kato as the best IEM in the world. It’s just all I want in the IEM world for my ears.
