For some time now I have been a Playstation gamer. Not by true choice, but by for nothing more than playing the greatest games. I am a gamer that doesn’t believe in loyalty to brands or Companies. I pay money to play the games I like the best and therefore I refuse to treat any company or brand as they are a person or that I could feel love for something that can’t love me back. I don’t trust Sony as a company but have always respected that power they had to create amazing games. Xbox on the other hand had my respect for Game pass day one release focus. But because of the lack of games this alone was just not enough to combat what I was getting with the exclusives of Playstation.

However, something has changed it seems. While Sony has already mastered the focus on single player games and xbox on multi-player games, their roles seem to be switching. Playstation sees the money Microsoft is making in the world of multi-player games and network games and have are turning their direction to this. Strangely enough, Microsoft seems to be pushing more for single player experiences and Japanese style games, something they have never been good at. And so as this transition is forming I see something that has caught my eye. I see a direction of Microsoft that is lining up with my preferred way.
Playstation for example is planning very soon to release yet another console. Very soon they will be telling you that your ps5 isn’t good enough for true game performance after years of telling us it is. But strangely enough, Microsoft has taken the stance that they are not going to be pushing another console any time soon because the developers need stability and focus on getting use to the systems that are already out! Much respect!!! That got my ears smiling ( if they could). Then Playstation raised their prices for the plus membership a whopping $30+ a year, something Microsoft has never done and has not announced any plans to follow such a spike in membership cost. Again, much respect.
And then I started to ask myself …what am I getting from Sony that would justify this spike and my wallet if I remain. And right away I know it’s Spiderman 2 and Wolverine (possibly). Problem is …I can’t come up with a single game that I want to play on playstation after this. Gone are the Detroit become human studios. Gone are the Uncharted’s, and Second Sons. These types of games normally fill the gap and extend the Playstations dominance for me. But they are gone now. Now I’m stuck with Last of us…which I never like, god of War …which is against my religion, and Ghost of tsushima possibly, but I still have never finished the first. Same for Horizon. The last group of games for Playstation hasn’t really done it for me. I just don’t connect with them.

But on the Xbox side of things, I am getting a plethora of different advantages. Everything from still getting MLB for free, to Fable 5, Forza and of course Starfield. Heck I ever get EA Play For free with my games pass where Playstation makes me pay separately for it nor delivers any free day one exclusives.
- Fable 5
- Everwild
- Hellblade 2
- Starfield
- Forza 5
- indiana Jones
- Mlb 25
(Xbox series x also seems to be fixed from all it’s streaming issues and hardware connection problems with the controller).
So more and more I am starting to look hard at Xbox for the games( if they come out, that is) but still understanding that all of this can change tomorrow with one or two announcements by Playstation this year or next year. Not forgetting that they still have the Portable that is coming out and that they could easily say the words ” DAY ONE Exclusive” that would shake up the world easily. But for me, I miss the days that I had great AAA story games from Playstation that didn’t either push some political agenda or support some false god. Could the Xbox Starfield momentum truly springboard a series of culture turnarounds? I personally don’t believe it but I can’t deny that right now Xbox seems more like my direction now vs Playstations direction lately outside of 2 games.
