Spiderman, miles morales game was the single, greatest reason I bought a PS5. At the time of the launch of the Ps5, I didn’t think I was going to get the system because I liked the Xbox’s vision and list of games more. I also appreciated the simplicity of the expansion card system vs the PlayStation’s way that wasn’t even ready at the time of launch. I just didn’t see much preparation from the Sony side of things.

And then I saw Miles and Morales and it was over. I had to have a PlayStation for no other reason than to get a chance to play Miles Morales. The 60fps and gorgeous graphics along was amazing story line, just had me dreaming of game play and boy was I right. And then we all know what happened after that with Microsoft and their lack of games. However, fast forward to today and we have multiple 60fps games for both consoles, Xbox has great backwards compatibility game’s performance, PlayStation is leading the industry in sales, and Microsoft is buying major companies and pushing Gamepass(still giving away MLB while Sony charges)even more along with finally getting out exclusives, like Starfield and soon Forza Motorsport and Sony is about to release the Portal for couch play. I mean a lot had gone on in gaming.

So with all that said, as I wait for the next Spiderman, I have some concerns.

1. Too much is going on. I’m glad you have Miles back and Peter. But at the same time I fear that the game will be congested because of it. And when that happens you don’t get the full attention on either character.

2. The Spiderman wing suit. I’m just not a fan of it. It’s too gimmicky. I know it’s not a popular statement but I love Spiderman because of the simplicity of the characters. I like web swinging, I don’t need for him to act like Superman or Iron man. Same thing happened in the movie when his suit became more computer base and mechanical. Everything from the spider legs to Venom’s vine like plastic man stretching just doesn’t work for me.

3. The lack of focus of the villain. I get that people think it’s cool to have all this stuff going on but it’s not. The more complex and chaotic numbers of villains you have , it yet another time slot that could have spent helping the story evolve for the main character or Villain. Craven is the suppose to be the main bad guy and yet all the trailers and ads keep focusing on Venom. And while I think Venom is a more interesting villain, bringing in Craven then makes no sense as the main villain.

4. And finally, my last concern is the difficulty of bringing in yet another Spiderman game. We’ve seen the cuts scene powers, the web swinging of Miles vs Peter, we seen the 60fps, graphics, and ray tracing. These things won’t wow me like it did at the launch of ps5.

So for me my concerns is that Spiderman won’t wow me like it did before at this time into this generation of gaming. And I think Sony tried to do too much with having both Spider-Man’s and the two main villains. On paper is sounds sweet but I’m in question on how it translates to the game that is no longer an anomaly or something unique at this time in gaming. Something tells me that this Spiderman won’t sell like Miles Morals and or the original Spiderman did but I’m hoping I’m wrong.
