The gaming community goes back and forth at times. We focus on what is hot and what is not. At any time the ps5 can be the hottest thing ever seen and then at time the Xbox tries to stand up to take attention away. But one thing about the generation is that PlayStation rules the mindshare. Games that are for both consoles seem to favor the PlayStation in ads. Commercial or tv shows all host the PlayStation. Even when games are being made the console likely to be seen first is the PlayStation. You even see it on gaming competition tables. Xbox just doesn’t have the numbers or the sure following the PlayStation has. And like or not, StarField nor Forza will ever change that advantage this generation. Xbox fanboys need to stop with the false belief that somehow Xbox will come back and beat PlayStation.
Now on the flip side of things, if you are a neutral player who doesn’t care which console they play on, as long as you get the best games that you are into, there is another consideration. Xbox is on fire right now. Everything from better graphics from 3rd party games like madden, NBA 2k, Star Wars Jedi Survivor, Mortal Kombat 1 and others. To great first party games like StarField and Forza on the way for free along with free games like Lies of P and even MLB 24. It is truly the best place and hottest play games and deliver value.
Me personally, I have played more games and put in more hours of play these past weeks on Xbox than I have the whole year on my pS5. Things truly are lining up nicely in my gaming life and I have never been happier this year than now. But with all that said, I’m not delusional enough to believe that this somehow makes up the 18+million console deficit that Xbox has vs PlayStation. None of this matters to the rest of the world nor the game makers that hold PlayStation in high regards. PlayStation rules the console gaming world, it’s flat out facts. If that matters to you, don’t be fooled to think for one second that PlayStation isn’t still King because of the momentum of the Xbox.
But if you like me and don’t care about console sales more than I care about gaming and gaming value, Xbox really has a serious bid for gaming direction for people like us. So much so that I no longer even have my PlayStation on my stand for my tv. It’s boxed up, awaiting any possible surge from PlayStation but right now I see none ahead outside of Spiderman and Wolverine and even those are in question for me but time will have to tell the true story.
