iOS 17 brought some much needed features to the AirPods Pro. Problem is Apple released a new USB c model that has absolutely no advantage over the current model which got every single upgrade the new model got with the newest Firmware for IoS. Now normally Apple gives specific upgrades to newer product but this time the only real benefit is the port being changed to USB C. All AirPod pro 2 owners get the speech awareness feature that lowers the volume if it detects you speaking to someone.

We get the Adaptive noise canceling features that automatically detects and changes your music and the incoming sounds around you. Then you also get the auto volume algorithm which detects your sound volume levels in different environments and adjust for them without you having to do it. And it’s works pretty well if you ask me. While I believe these features are great and I’m thankful Apple didn’t ask me to buy another set of AirPods just to get these features, I have to say, as a business decision, I think this was a blunder that will cost them a lot of sells. But at the time I could be wrong because we know the cult of Apple doesn’t care. They buy just because it’s there and they will justify it later to themselves or others. Already reviewers are spending time trying to developer graphs to prove that the new version is somehow better sounding while others are reporting that they can find no difference. I will say though I’m surprised that Apple didn’t lock this away behind a product upgrade but again I’m glad they didn’t but I wonder how this works with investors. But at the end of the day the features actually work well so if you haven’t tried it, I would seriously give it a try. It’s a quality of life upgrade that makes using your AirPod pro’s a little more easier in your everyday life but other than that don’t buy the new model just to get USB C.
