You know, the more you think about things, the more you end up in the same place. Xbox seems to take steps to the future, and everybody criticizes them. Then, they turn around and find out that playstation has taken the same steps, and the same energy isn’t expelled against Sony’s efforts and actions. Perhaps fans feel more acceptable towards playstation for some reason or another. Either way, it’s kinda unfair and unbalanced. But at the end of the day, the people are affected the most.

Today, Sony joined Xbox with an 8% reduction of employees. Yes, Xbox cut more jobs, but Sony cut hurt their game releases, the data claims. This is something Sony fans are already concerned about with no real top AAA exclusive due for the whole year of 2024. Sony also is following after strategic moves from Xbox for exclusives releases to other platforms(PC) for more money with more to come. Lastly, they are also going less after 3rd person action games in favor to Sales and service games, mostly like shooters like Destiny and Helldivers. This again has been the direction of Microsoft, who is now a 3 trillion dollar company and is very influential in the profit and business development. This is something Sony wants, and this is causing their new direction to cause some to be off balanced. The future is just so unknown now for gaming, and people are becoming scared.

Some will say that Sony is making a mistake, but their profit margin proves that another direction is needed to maintain their profits. They see the market and know that they can’t match Microsoft buying power but can match their direction for gaining profit in easier game type to capture revenue in as well as giving more games to more platforms like PC. This goes against everything that created the concept of video games for most people and is causing a departure of trust in the platfoms of home consoles enthusiasts. And no matter which side of the console war you stand on, nothing we have been used to will stay the same, and we all better get used to it because it’s not going to get better but worse for traditionalist.
