The Sennehiser brand is a brand force most know and respect. They have a long history of sound and engineering that most people around the world are very familiar with. For those of us who got into the wireless earphone section of theirs, we are the ones that have been burned most of the time by their history of QA issues with software and battery issues for their earphones. Forms everywhere were filled with mostly problems, yet strong love and hope for a day of firmware fixes that never came.

People absolutely loved the earphones when they worked. But when they didn’t, they truly caused good will to leave the hearts of some of the most long-term supported fans of the brand. Sennheiser was said to have finally listened to the complaints and the long history of problems with its momentum earphones lineup. However, upon release of this latest edition, more problems with hissing, connection issues, hear through clarity, and lack of sound innovations started to hit the web and forms.

So, for me, once I got my MTW 4’s and updated the latest firmware, I wondered if I would fall to the side of good experiences or problems. And before 2 hours passed, I had a right earphone reboot happen while I was wearing the earphones and listening to music, not a good sign!

Since then, however, for the next 3 days, I’ve had no crashes or reboots happen. So I’m not sure what to think about the MTW 4’s. On one hand, the sound is so unique and pleasant. You know the sennheiser sound anywhere you experience it. I love the touch controls and even the app and features like ANC, hear thru, which is amazing now after the update. I even really appreciate the look of the new finishes available for the earphones and even the battery life and quick charging. I personally really find Sennheiser very desirable as a brand. I would love nothing more than to pick up matching Momentum 4 headphones as my new combo for flights and casual listening. But the brand and their history really prevent me from truly trusting them. I keep holding my breath every single time I open the case and put them in. But as it stands right now, only the Technics Az80’s operation has been perfect without a single flaw or failure. Even the Denons Perl Pro failed today with a hard boot failure when all sounds stopped as it started making  weird feedback shorting out sounds. I am so tired of tech that don’t work the way they were designed or promised. So I guess I’m still waiting on sennheiser to be trusted.
