Sometimes, the weaker and simpler product gets attention. At least this was the case with the Accentum Plus headphones. Now, this is just a preliminary thought article on these, but I will say that was drawn to them because they were simpler, smaller, and more minimalistic. I think the first and biggest thing that drew me to them was the cheaper price and the earcups.

For some reason, when I saw this, I just kinda was drawn to them. The cups are more spacious than the Momentum 4 easily. They are also smaller in overall bulk design while still providing more room .. which is crazy. And, of course, another benefit with a smaller footprint is lighter weight. This was another plus for me. Because even though I like some weight sometimes, I also appreciate light weight and quiet, smooth designs like this more. As you can see below, the overall thumbprint is smaller and more appealing, at least to me.

Now, does this mean that the Momentum 4 isn’t the best still of the two? No. In fact, I wouldn’t lie to you and claim the Sonys xm5 as still the best on the market today because they are. I’m not, at all, here to blow smoke, price matters, and shortcuts where taken. The features present on these are the basic features. You get ANC, hear thru, and the ability to take off and pause things. You also get an EQ and a custom hearing app to measure your proper sound. But you can’t change the swipes for something else nor get the chance to pick the codec you want that I can see. So yes, there are differences. But if you don’t care about what is missing vs. what is present, then you will be good.
Overall, so far, I think this headphone is a very nice simple design for someone who just needs minimalistic design and base features inside something that are dependable and still powerful. Are there better sounding or more features found in others more expensive, sure they are, they better be because they are more expensive. But at this price …this thing is punching above its weight so far, and I’m digging it.
Update: Well, these didn’t last too long at all. Sitting around 50% battery life and the unit hard crashes out while listening to music. Sennheisers’ quality assurance is so lacking and suffers a great deal of their companies sales. Needless to say… they have been returned. The Sony xm5 headphones remain the best and most reliable for me.
