The Denon perl Pros have stepped into the world of the Big Boys and names in the bluetoth world. They defeated the Sennhsiers ( headaches and crashes too much), and they beat the previous rookie of year, the Technics Az80. But what happens when Sonys features and overall quality take on the Perl Pro?

For starters, the Sonys are smaller. There is no getting around that fact. Let’s face it. The next thing is that they sit in your ears and stay(once you get them in, that is). They disappear and feel amazing. The Denon fit good, too, but they do need adjustments at times and are super large in its profile.

The next thing up on deck is battery life. The Denon has quick charging and battery life is very nice on the earphone. But the Sonys step up still as the older design. It has longer battery life in both the case and earphone because the Denons case doesn’t really give you 24 hours and measures you charges by how many time it has to charge the earphones, not the hours it charges the unit too. There would times I would only use the earphones for an hour and charge them, and the case would consider that a full charge. The sonys are better at this and give back more charges.

Next up, the touch controls. They are really not anything to brag about on the Denon. They are slightly delayed and need to be touched multiple times to get them to register. Basically, the features it provides are basic. Everything outside of sound is delivered at its basic level from ANC to hear thru, not to mention the need to use ANC to get the sound advantage it needs. This is not the case with the Sonys. Their touch controls are amongst the very best. Their ANC amongst the very best, their hear thru, again..amongst the very best. They also contain LDAC and DSEE support, which is not available on Denon as well as Google Voice activation.. which is again, not on the Denon. If all that doesn’t stack, even the Sonys are cheaper.

The Sonys still remain, the “Once and Future King” of Earphones, in my opinion overall. But if you are looking for ONLY the best sound available for bluetooth, the Denon Perl Pro is still the “Sound Champion” for my ears. The soundstage is better as well as the Timbre. Plus, if you need something different, these are a great choice too so that you are not like everyone else.
