Look, there is no getting around facts. While the Sonys xm5 are the Overall King of Earphones based on the boxes checked, the Sennheiser sound style is still very sought after as the very best in some eyes. Having an in-house sound signature unlike any other earphones plays a big part in why so many people swear by them. I’ve had issues in the past with my older models, and even with this latest model, I had one reboot but none since then. In fact, it’s been as solid in it connection and performance as any other high ranked earphones I’ve had these last few weeks.

Some will say, what’s the point if you have the Sonys. But for me, while the Sonys stand as the overall best featured riched earphones for Android, it doesn’t result in my favorite earphones to use. This remains with the Sennheiser. This is accomplished because they just fit in my ears without having to roll them or push them in with force like the Sonys. Next and probably the most important is that overall, sound signature is better than the Sonys because of two words, soundstage and timbre.

The Sennheiser, unlike the Sonys, doesn’t just play mainly inside your head. The Sonys tries to make up for this with its imaging, but it’s clearly heard when comparing to the two. Sounds reach above my head and around me further with the Sennheiser, and it’s easily heard. Then, the timbre is more real, also with the Sennheiser. With the Sonys, they don’t do a good job at mid bass, making sounds come though not as real as they normally are or with as much authority and weight. The Sennehiser delivered on this so well. Their signature is designed to take full advantage of music in this matter, and it shows. My only complaint is that I wish it had better venting. The head pressure isn’t really that bad, but I just can tell it’s slightly there. The Sonys creates small left side pressure point to my inner ear, so it’s not perfect either. But then again, nothing is perfect.
So if you are to ask me which I prefer, which is the best, and where I gravitate towards on a daily base…I would have 3 different answers. The overall best is still the Xm5. The best sound period is still the Denon perl Pro, but the signature and style of the Sennheiser always pull me back to it even if there are other areas others might be better at. I will say too how proud I am thus far into this earphones life. The unit doesn’t connect while in the case. The battery doesn’t drain by itself just sitting there in the case. The connection is stable and doesn’t stutter and the app doesn’t crash and not connect to the earphones. The earphones are just unique and has its own sound that is just not easily forgettable even if you try to walk away to others.
