As I have pointed out already, the Cambridge m100 is the Feyd Rautha of the Bluetooth world as far as I am concern. I have given a lot of praise to its creation and attention to the details that matter over the hype. But before complete and utter victory could be given, I had one more earphone that I thought needed to be addressed, the Status 3 ANC. I saw a few praises for this headphone and it reminded me a lot of Cambridge M100 as far as their foundation and direction into a market already ruled by others. It was yet another little guy, trying to make a name for themselves. So I decided to get it.

Now to be honest, I truly didn’t believe these would beat the M100’s but I wanted to give them a shot anyway. I really didn’t like their look and I didn’t see the key words like “built in amp” or “wide soundstage” that were connected to the M100’s praises. But hey…I was willing to seek for lightening to strike twice based on the some of the reviews.

The only thing that came of all this was Total Victory of the M100’s over the Status 3 ANC. In fact, it was worse than a total victory, the Status 3 ANC is tied with the fast return of a electronic item in my life. It was a complete amature attempt of a earphone. It was horrible at the very basic things. The controls were so…so bad. They wouldn’t register touches accurately for nothing. I literally took one off and kept trying to forward my tracks with double taps and it took me over 2 minutes to get them to register 1 successful attempt. Not even the pause touches registered consistently. And God forbid you try all the attempts with the earphones in your ears unless you love ear pain. Even the button they placed on the unit is recessed and therefore couldn’t be used either without taking them off. The sound was hollowed out at best and bass was so basic without any true layering and the soundstage was nowhere near the M100’s. And finally the app showed my battery power at 100% but within 3 minutes of listening it was at 92% and the case had this burning electronic board smell to it. I mean this thing was a crap feast! So yes, FEYD RAUTHA….the M100 is still the most deadliest warrior in the Bluetooth land. This piece of joke Status 3 ANC is already boxed and ready for ship off.
