Well I’ve been pushing through a lot of earphones as of late. To be frank, every single one of them has their place in someone’s pocket. They are all that good. But just as I’ve said so many times, nothing is perfect, not even the current champion thus far …the Cambridge M100…aka Feyd Rautha. While nothing that exist holds the area of denominations in the categories it holds(there is no A/B classified amp, with 52 hours of battery life, and audiophile sound quality with 8 band EQ under $170), it’s still not perfect for everyone or even wanted by everyone.

So for the last few weeks I’ve been singing praise about this new comer. The amount of things this earphone has in play is just outstanding as I’ve mentioned. But the one thing that I didn’t understand it didn’t have was proper Venting. You see for years I’ve had to stay away from none vented earphones( and contrary to a lot of people misinformation…all earphones don’t have venting and even the ones that do don’t have the proper venting) and earphones that don’t vent properly. So even if the earphone is the next God given technology dropped from heaven, it doesn’t work for me without the venting. So for the last 2 weeks I’ve been dealing with migraines and a sensation of pressure inside my head. I thought it was because of all the storms we’ve had the last few weeks because I get migraines with storms. What I found out was it was the earphones that were the cause once the storms left, the head pressure stayed. And they didn’t leave, mind you, until I picked back up my “Excalibur”.

Yes…the oldie but damn goodie! The Jabra, as most know is heading out to pasture. They have called it quits on the consumer earphones lineups. So the Elite 10 gen 2 is the last earphone you will see in the consumer lineup of earphones from Jabra. But yours truly still has mine and going back to it was a relief in more than one way. For starters the new updates actually made things better in the phone call quality that it originally had. It also made the ANC better than it once was when I was using it. Now it’s become a formable earphone in the game. In fact it’s already become my favorite partly due to it rescuing me from my headaches:). I almost forgot how good the Jabra sounded. Almost forgot that despite their 6 hour claim that they get 10 hours per charge and most people never bring that up still today. They feel amazing to touch and amazing to place in your ear. And on top of all that they have no glitches, not stutters, no defects with the software. Yes, this is old news and there are plenty of people that already know about this earphone but I love rediscovering things.

In fact, there is a cult like following that believes this is the best earphone period because it has no real weaknesses. While it will not be the very best at any price point in any one category, once you start adding up what it can do vs where it fails, it’s starts to move up that ladder to compete with the best in the earphone game. So, as the game keeps teaching me, there are levels to this. The Cambridge M100 is a dominating earphone in its capabilities, nothing has changed there. But when I need something I can depend on and will check all the boxes without causing me to suffer, it’s just not my choice anymore. For now, I have asked the lady of sea to once again bring forth the Excalibur:). It will be at my side moving forward.

Update: I found out that foam tips are the reasons for the pressure build up in my head. Using the default tips doesn’t make my head pressure build up. So I don’t have to let go of my precious Feyd Rautha:))
