Another year of overhyped earphones and lies pushed by youtubers are still in full effect. Everywhere you look you see the same brands like Bower and Wilkins and many others that cost well over $300 for bluetooth earphones being pushed by Youtubers that are so happy that they got picked for review units. And every year they always tell you lies and hide the truth about them. Take the new Bower and Wilkins Pi8. Everyone hyping up plugging your case into a airplane adaptor still(which turned out to be the most useless gimmick ever to be placed in earphones) still and claiming that they are the best after A/B’g the earphones against the previous model Pi7 S2 because they were so good and was the very best???. Well let’s look at the reviews shall we of the previous model….
There seem to be a consistent theme with the reviews and sales here doesn’t it? Consumers ( what little sales they were) were on full blast about the pathetic and inexcusable lack of quality and QC this brand continues to throw out there. The bluetooth devices have no real features that are useful and they don’t do their simple job of just working without skips, glitches, connection malfunctions, and crashes in apps. They didn’t even give you the ability to change ANC activation on the earphones themselves, you had to use your phone just to do something 99% earphones in the world today can do. And none of these so call Youtube reviewers want to talk about the issues previously and excuses every single pathetic lack of results these brand present. So what’s the difference now? Even now with the Pi8, they gave you, the listener, 13 hours in the case battery! 13 %$$$*** hours and charged you $400+! None of the Youtubers made them own up to this or called them out. None of them actually did a test on phone call quality that should come from a $400 product and make them stand on it.
They even went as far as to justify the lack of ANC effectiveness as a good thing because “Bowers and Wilkins say nobody needs it pass basic levels because it affects the sound”. And just like robots, youtuber sit there and quote that lie and junk. Nobody ever said boy …Airpods Pro, Sony Xm5, and Bose would sound so much better if they didn’t have such good ANC”. NO! Why? Because anyone who knows about companies that know what they are doing with AnC knows that they can create great ANC without negatively affecting the sound. So Bowers and Wilkins just proved again that they don’t know what they are doing and are merely throwing together something that look nice on the outside with lack of knowledge and proper design inside. This is why their products aren’t reliable and don’t actually deliver on things that you truly need.
Trust me when I tell you, coming from a person who has spent thousands on earphones, no bluetooth earphone in the world is worth $400. All you are going to get is a product that is overhyped and delivers on basic things 80% of its ability and only either have good sound quality without reliability, proper fit, proper battery life, or proper features set up for actual real world use needs. The Pi8 will be no different as we already know they flat out shipped a 13 hour battery life in the case in 2024 while companies like Cambridge Audio and Earfun are knocking out over 50 hours of battery life in theirs. There is no excuse …there is just laziness and you as the consumers should demand more from this. I guarantee there is more missing and more issues with this headphone because you have proven nothing to me about your efforts and only showed me that once again, you either don’t care, or too ignorant to understand your short comings and at $400 that is just not excusable.
I would put the $89 earFun up against any Bluetooth in the world and it would win because it delivers on the features, sound, comfort, and reliability missing from the overpriced Bluetooth earphones in the world today. So my question to all of them is very simple…Why Can’t you Deliver on the basics First before you ask me for $400?
