The Bowers and Wilkins Pi8 are in my hands and I have listen to them for the last 24 hours and I have some of my preliminary thoughts about this earphone as well as some confessions:). For starters, if you read my previous article then you know this earphone was not very high in my favor prior. The price tag alone was the main reason why. The other reasons were the battery life and software problems that Bowers and Wilkins are known for. Sadly, none of those reasons were eliminated after I received mine, they were only verified.

LIST OF ISSUES THAT EXIST:

• The Battery life on the case is only 13 hours for a total of 20 hours …well below the minimal standards for the last 2 years of 24 hours.
• The app battery life sync is completely broken. Shows you at 60% and then turns around and shows your battery level is at 72% without you ever charging them. Or the battery can start at 100% and drop to 92% in 2 minutes.
• Controls still don’t allow full access to all features …you have to pick which ones and it also never gives the ability to turn off anc/ hear thru on the earphones, you have to open the app. And worst yet there is delay between touch commands and stupid tone every single time you activate them.
• And last the obvious…the Unit is just too expensive for it to have these problems at $400.

Reasons why it’s a Killer :

HOWEVER, just like Jason Bourne…He may have his headaches and memory problems that come with Treadstone brainwashing, but one thing he still is, is a killer, so is the Bowers and Wilkins pi8!

The Pi8 manages to give the single greatest Resolution and Clarity ever heard in Bluetooth history. This level of clarity and resolution pulls details in mids unlike no other bluetooth earphone in the world today. And because of this the Soundstage that it packs along with it’s imaging makes WORLDS and UNIVERSES come into existence around you. The Bass has so many levels and depth. While not as immersive as the Denon Perl Pro, they stand just below them for quality of Bass. The instrument separation is tied with the Denon Perl Pros with this level of detail and spacious presentation. It even has the timbre crown alongside the Denon Perl Pros. They now stand on top of Bluetooth world as the greatest sounding earphones of all time. The Pi8’s take their sound quality into the realm of Audiophiles and away from the Dynamic regions of consumer sound. It aims at the IEM world with deadly accuracy, if the Audiophile way is your direction. It flat out breaks the ceiling that once was on Bluetooth earphones that separated them from Audiophile IEM’s and now one can make the argument that it is the first real competitor of Audiophile IEM’s from the bluetooth world to stand and compete in their domain.

So while this Earphone is not perfect in anyway nor delivers on the things it should deliver on based on it’s price. What it doesn’t fail to deliver is the Kill shot to the world of Bluetooth earphones for sound. What stands before you today is a Killer of Bluetooth stigma and limits for sound. It is the most accurate, highest resolution, and highest clarity earphone in the world today in bluetooth sound. It’s smart with its ability to broadcast from its case with Aptx lossless to any device. It delivers the quality look of a Spy ready to kill. And it’s a comfortable in its mission while in your ear better and lighter than any other device that has come before it. So if you are a Audiophile and have waited on the Bluetooth device that could finally stand in your world and high standards of accurate and balance sound…this is it as long as the issues with battery life and software isn’t existing on your non-negotiables.
