In a very surprising result in my life, for the first time in my life, I am devoted to one brand for earphones and headphones for bluetooth, Bowers & Wilkins. I have never ever allowed myself to do this. Sure, I’ve matched brands before but never decided for it to be exclusively. But come tomorrow, I will only have two bluetooth devices in use for my life, the Pi8 and the px7 s2e.
So why now? Well, one could easily say it’s because I’m tired. I mean, I’ve had every single earphone and headphone in bluetooth for years. Every year, I purchase and purchase, looking for that perfect sound that can finally get me sound that is finally close to what I’m used to with my IEM’S and audiophile headphones. One could say I’m tired, and they would correct. But that is just half of the equation.
While this has become tiring indeed, without a suitable answer to my search, it means nothing. But since the Pi8’s and the Px7 s2e’s entered into my home and on my head and ears, things became a lot clearer. I need comfort, realistic timbre and tonality, fast decaying and layered accurate bass, great vocals, details realism, reliability, soundstage, and at least 6 hours per charge. I literally could not go backward to anything less. I’ve jumped off this bridge with no parachute.
Ultimately, this means that Bowers and Wilkins are my perfect storm. They have delivered on all this. They are outright beautiful in every way physically while matching that beauty to its unbeatble sound. It engulfs me and surrounds me and the room I’m in. Everything in my life disappears but the music and it’s amazing feeling, especially when my ears no longer feel them, and my mind is fooled into believing the sound is happening in the ceiling, behind me, or corner walls. It’s flat-out magical, I kid you not.
Look, at the end of the day, you might say to yourself, “Sure, they sound good, but a lot of earphone sound good.” And to that notion, I will say you right and wrong. Yes, I have had some killers. The Az80’s, Cambridge M100, and Denon Perl Pro’s. And if you own them, I would say it’s so easy to turn the page and close the book. Because there is no way that I would ever classify those earphones as nothing but game changers. I could have easily been done with on either one of those earphones just like I am now. So you should be confident in your choice if those are one of them. But make no mistake about it, if you ever get the Pi8’s…in those you will see a quality unmatched by anything and this is where I am at today.
My Denon’s, Az80, and others are now gone. This experience was life changing for my ears with the Pi8’s. But at the end of the day, I still can understand if someone saw no value in spending $400 for another quality step for their bluetooth earphones. You have to make up your own mind, just like I did. All I know is that it is a nice feeling to have one brand and one pair of earphones and one pair of headphones for bluetooth.
