The history of this company and their quality is respected by millions. Their design is one of great looks and comfort, period. And so their app and connection issues with their earphones shouldn’t be there, as it doesn’t reflect their quality elsewhere. The last couple of years with Bose have been held back by these issues, and this has really kept it from being my default brand for my needs.

Every year, I would get them and be so amazed by the sound quality and Anc powers, but as soon as this happens, the failure were there too. And it was so strange. The headphones worked well with the app, but the earbuds wouldn’t. Everything from crashes, reboots, and stutters would destroy the moment for me but loved the sound and IEM quality bass. I even created a dedicated journal entry on my site about my Bose earphones because because I eventually had to just move on from them.

But now the quietcomfort Ultra are here with the Quietcomfort earbuds 2nd edition, and I’m so happy and impressed. I will admit that it took a second for me to accept things again. I was just so used to being let down by Bose. I knew that the bose were special this year and delievered on so much. I also could feel that pull to it once I had it. Despite having the world’s greatest sounding earphones, the Pi8’s….I kept reaching for the Bose Quietcomfort earbuds 2nd edition. Despite having the PX7’s, I kept reaching for the Bose Quietcomfort headphone for its superior sound, ANC, and comfort over the PX7’S higher quality materials and looks.

No matter what I did to convince myself to try and put these things down in favor of my $400 earphone investment, I couldn’t. Not could put down the headphones in favor of its unique and higher quality looking material. Nothing that should happen took over for me when it came to these vs others. The sound quality was so good and the soundstage, ANC, Hear thru, and bass was superior that even though things like the Bowers and Wilkins had the better overall sound quality, they failed at too many things that the Bose was superior to along with the couple of key areas in sound that they either beat or tied the Pi8s in that the line of difference blurred. But I knew I was in trouble the moment I realized that during my testing I would forget which one I had on when I got lost in the music and and couldn’t point out anything I was missing once I realized that I was still using the Bose. And that led to falling in love with the battery life and how fast they charge compared to the bower and wilkins battery issues and charging problems.

So now we sit here, prepared to leave town, and the last earphone or headphone I’m taking with me is the Bowers and Wilkins headphone or earphone. In fact, as I sit here, I regret ever buying them because of their battery life and battery charging problems, which I’ve recently spoken about. It also again reminds me that I never should have broken my rule about earphones over $300. None of them ever lived up to their performance to price structure, and now I sit burned because I didn’t hold true. Who knows, maybe one day Bowers and Wilkins might fix some of these issues, but they will never have better AnC or longer battery life with a firmware so that’s out of the picture even after they fix their delays in the controls, charging issues, app battery life sync problems. Most importantly, they will never deliver more than Bose has at their cost.
