The Bowers and Wilkins have taken a lot of heat from me about their battey life issues. I truly hate the idea that a $400 product can’t simply charge to 100% after being in case for over 24 hours or more. I truly hate the concept of battery anxiety for tech products. The Pi8s are already playing from a starting part of weakness, with only 13 hours on the case. So, picking up the earphones after I know full well that they should be fully charged after days in the case only to find them at 90 or 80% just doesn’t add up. So when I went to Reddit and saw how many people were dealing with the same thing, I just knew it was just bad tech and I hated myself for giving that much money on a product with flaws like that.

But something hit me today. What if this was not a design flaw but a preventive feature to maintain the life of the battery. Hear me out. This morning, I picked up Cambridge audio m100 after weeks of non-use but fully charged before I put them away. And guess what? Even though the case was still fully charged, the earbuds were only at 93%. Something very similar to my Pi8s.

When I regularly use the earphones, they charge completely to 100%, as seen above. But if I go days without pulling them out, it makes it seem like they never reached 100% even though the case says they are fully charged. Maybe, they discharged a certain percentage depending on how long they sit in the case without regular use. Could this be a design? Maybe it’s a feature because I don’t believe it’s good for the battery to remain 100% over a period of time. And if this is the case, then the pi8 really doesn’t have a flaw as I originally thought. Maybe people need to consider this before they return the product or overly criticize the unit(like me:). Maybe we just don’t understand that this is the best in the long run, especially for such an expensive product. But of course, I could still be wrong for all I know, but I did find AI hinting to my theory as well.

This, while it doesn’t prove anything 100%, does make me think I have merit. More possibly, if this is true for sure, it changes my view of my pi8s greatly again. If true, I think I can live with this and move forward with confidence. This will also make them my number one all over again. I already have no equal to them in sound and most likely never will until the Pi9’s. So, if I can finally feel better about the battery issues that sometimes happen, I think I would have an easy time dealing with something purposefully done for the protection of the product over a mistake or flaw. But I could just be trying to make sense of something that I truly want to work because of the sound and cost.

I will say, though, that I’m also blowed away with the signal connection stability. This thing has never dropped out, stuttered, crashed out, or rebooted. It’s the best venting I’ve had in earphones, the best comfort, one of the smallest designs, an amazing case size, and did I mention the Sound Yet Again:))). Nothing beats it! However, I still don’t believe any bluetooth earphones should run $400-$500 still. I still would recommend the Denon perl Pro $149 over all things at that price. It’s easily the best cost to performance I’ve ever seen. It’s literally the 2nd best earphone in the world for sound quality, and it’s $150 right now! Makes no sense:)). And even with that said, I can’t put the Pi8 down for long despite my complaints.
