Every single time I have seen really quick takes and published failures and successes before the movie, game, or product even comes out, I’m a little concerned for its legitimate nature. I saw it with the original iPhone being tagged a failure and that it only had a battery life of 30 minutes by New York Times analysis Michael Pachter, and we all know how that turned out. It’s one of the worst takes ever, and yet people continue to listen to him. So with this movie, I have seen some really bad headlines about the movie but refused to read them because I wanted my own thoughts. And so my son and I watched the 9 minutes preview, and walked away happy so we took a chance and bought tickets.

Right away, even from the preview, the action screens were exciting and full of key moments of strength like what you see above, reminding you somewhat of the iconic Captian America scene with the helicopter. Kraven strength is on full display in a good amount of moments. But the biggest praise I can give is his agility and animal like movements. That, for me, was the stand out of work the actor put in and the way he kept his body strong and his flexibility on point.
I also liked the simplicity of the direction of the movie. There wasn’t even a love interest anywhere in the movie. No, not even the typical Gay screen from females or males, which was so refreshing. There is no requirement of pronouns and woke agendas present either. This alone was worth points in my opinion. No, this move was just an action move that told you a simple story about two brothers who were raised by their father who was hard on them, and one became a Hunter, while the other suffered at the mental abuse of his Father until he finally revealed his true path in the end of movie. Basically, if you just want to see a basic movie about a dude kicking butt and being a MANNN …this might make for a decent view.
Now unto the problems:
Now, if you are going to look at the movie for more than just an action movie about Manhood, then here are the issues you will find.
1. Kraven is russian and yet has no Russian American accent at all. He accent is Canadian and mousy at time, which takes away from his look.
2. The editing of the movie from scene to scene was disjointed and all over the place. Way too skip scenes through time.
3. The female actress that plays Calypso is horrible in her acting and dialog. It got really weird at times with the flow, and she and the actor that played Kraven didn’t really seem connected at all, even at a basic level. In the comics, she was his love interest, but this never got told.
4. Russell Crown character, as big of actor he is, didn’t have enough screen time, and yet, in many ways, he was the biggest enemy to the whole plot.
5. Finally, on to the biggest monkey in the room. Drum role, please….this might come as shocker…but KRAVEN is a known Villain. Kraven is not a hero! Why do so many movies continue to focus on evil people being painted as good, I have no idea.

So what’s my final verdict and score? Well, taking into account all of the movie, I don’t see this movie making most people happy in this age and time. But I do see a nice action movie that reminds you of the old days of action movie when it was mostly about the action over anything too realistic. At its heart, a Manly Action movie with good action moments but missing the proper editing flow to tell the right story and the proper acting connections to make it great. However, what I don’t see is the worst movie ever made, as some try and deem about this movie. So, with that said, I would give it a 6.8 out of 10.
