So, I think I have had the least approving reaction vs. many other people about the Superman trailer. I really didn’t relate to the trailer at all. I didn’t understand the facts shown as they seemed to contradict what Superman has been. The hero that can lift the earth upon his shoulders, fly fast enough to stop time, or move the moon out of orbit. This is the Superman I grew up with and loved. Well, after the trailer disappointing reveal, I got more info on the books this version of Superman is supposed to come from. And it’s not the universe I was introduced to growing up.

Nope, this Superman is from an era where 20-year-old men wore depends it seems. It’s also a world where Superman is not really that super compared to who he has always been to my generation. No, James Gunn says the powerful Superman isn’t relatable to him. So he went back to the days of the 1960s era where Superman wasn’t that powerful. Yes, he could fly, and he was strong, but he wasn’t really that hard to beat up or hurt. This was the Superman that was relatable to James Gun, hence the opening of Superman shaking in the snow asking his dog for help. It’s not exactly a very manly scene or a scene that proves his power.

So he accomplished what he sat out to do…to make sure the people know Superman is beatable and weaker than any other Superman ever to hit the screen. While this might appease the feminist nazis group of the woke world, it doesn’t work for me. The idea that you must show weakness to make yourself relatable to the minority of people that hate when men have power isn’t my idea of a great angle. The movie is called SUPER “MAN” not Super woman or Super they. I just want a movie to allow the character to be who he is without trying to achieve some kind of political agenda not to offend people by making my character less powerful because he’s a man. Because I bet you would hear it through the roof if Supergirl opening trailer is about her being weaker and beat up. They would attack the direction of the movie and scream “misogyny” , or challenge why she has to be shown off as weak. But when it’s a man, it’s just the right thing to do. I am so tired of the double standards. But at the end of the day, I love Superman stories and will see this movie day one and hope that I’m wrong about the movie being a failure.
