So I will say that I have not been into keyboard lately like I used to be in the past. I mean, I got into building them myself and custom keys switches and even breaking down the switches and relubing them the way I wanted them to achieve the sound that I wanted them to have in them. All this took root and kinda got lost in the tech priorities of life, I guess. However, part of that was based on the fact that I never could quite get the sound I truly wanted from the prebuilts and or the custom ones that I built myself. I kinda settled for what I made and bought and dealt with the fact that I wasn’t going to get exactly what I wanted unless I spent $300 or more on a custom made one that was built and tested by someone online to get me the perfect Thock-Sound I wanted. So I let it go and got myself a $100+ keyboard from bestbuy by SteelSeries and went on with my life until a week ago.

A week ago I ran into this youtube video about this keyboard above, by Akko. Strangely enough, I hadn’t been seeing any keyboard videos in my youtube algorhyme for over a year if not more. So trust me when I tell you, I was caught off guard by the video appearance and it was probably the reason I clicked on it. I hadn’t seen these types of videos in so long that I had forgotten why I fail in love with the keyboard hobby in the first place.

Right away the thing that stood out the most was the wood. The look of the wood was so rich and pleasing to my sight that I was already zeroed in on it patterns and the way it wrapped around the keyboard. The color of the wood really stood out with the key patterns as well. I also noticed that the keyboard was Gasket mounted and perfectly contoured within the wood and height of the keys. Every single thing just fitted perfectly together as though it was carved out of a solid piece of wood.

Then the Japanese patterns on keys just made things even more pleasing as I love their culture, the connection to peaceful traditions, and of course the history. Each key had patterns and symbols on it that told a story of nature, honor, and culture. Then even kept their letters on the keys while still having the english letters as well, which is helpful for someone like me at times. Everything was easy to read and very well painted and laid out on the keys. They even made sure to have the branding down to a minimal with a very classic gold strip at the top of the keyboard. Basically all was lining up and I could feel those old feelings of keyboard love hit me. But none of this mattered because I knew the that the sound was most likely not going to be the sound I wanted and if so the price was going to be $300 or more.

And boy was I wrong on both accounts. The video ended with a typing test, as most keyboard videos should. And the sound was exactly the sound that I was trying to accomplish but never could get it perfectly down. The keyboard insulation and foam were perfect. The key switches picked were perfect as well. Each and every part of this keyboard was a perfect match for the sound I waned …the key travel I wanted, even the key shape and ability to hotswap the keys were all present, all for under $130.

Needless to say I had to have it. I got it and had to delivered to me in two days thanks to Amazon. Everything was exactly what they showed, no …better. The Quality is so good, I was blowed away. If you had told me that this keyboard was $300 I would have believed you. It’s wireless bluetooth, 2.4ghz options with dongle, or wired options. Even the battery life is nice if you use it wireless. I have never had or heard of a better keyboard for my taste. This was exactly what I wanted …only more and for less money that I thought I would have to pay for it. Akko is definitely my hottest surprise in tech already for the new year. If you love keyboards, I highly suggest you look them up on Amazon. They have many other designs if my style isn’t your fit. They also have many key choices too and best of all you can make changes if you so choose.
