I’ve been seeing a lot of articles around and they are expressing their absolute joy for the new Technics Az100’s. They have been said to be the best in the world now or right under the best of the world by a lot of people, including myself. However, I do want to express my doubts about this earphone lasting to the end of the year as the best of 2025. Let’s remember, every single year there are tons of companies out there that release their new versions of earphones. This year will be no different. Sony is still coming out and Sennheiser is still coming out. Also keep in mind the Devialet Gemini 2’s, which are the best-sounding Bluetooth earphones in the world, is due for another release of a new product sometime this year. The last Gemini 2 was released in 2023 just like the AZ80 was released then. So it stands to reason that we might see another Gemini release.

So yes, right now the hottest is always the latest earphone that is being talked about, and very quickly will the world move on from it as soon as another pretty penny is shown to the world and the YouTube boys and girls start to get paid for their influences. Hype will bring yet another introduction to this and the world will move on from the last one just as quick as they did from the Gemini 2’s to the Pi8’s even though the Gemini 2’s sound better still. They are the old ones on the market and therefore they must be weaker. This is the concept of this world of tech. And if you are not careful you will be drowned into it and rocked left to right. Trust me, I know.

So while I totally understand it and get the hype and the addition to the newness, be very cautious about your beliefs that one earphone will stay the best for long. It won’t happen! Even if the advantage is great. Sooner or later something comes about cheaper and more capable than what you thought was unbeatable. There will always be another. Even though I have yet to hear an earphone better sounding than the Devialet Gemini 2’s, I still don’t recommend them because of the overpriced tag on them. And I don’t use them as much since the Technics came because I’m so spoiled with the battery life of the Az100 over the mediocre battery life of the Gemini 2’s. I also feel a connection to them for reasons I still don’t understand. They don’t have to be the best-sounding earphones in the world or even tied with it. I just enjoy listening to music on them and not having to worry about the battery life. Yes, its sound is top 3 or top 2 on the market right now but this still doesn’t defeat the sound ability of the Gemini 2’s. So because of that, I feel that the next group of challengers just might be able to deliver both the best battery and the best Sound period. Sony and Sennheiser have that chance, so I wouldn’t get too comfortable assuming that the Bluetooth race is over after the first month of the year. The technology is there and the innovations are out there. It’s just a matter of time before we see someone put it together. For all I know, it could take the Gemini 3’s to beat the Gemini 2’s. Or the Gemini 3’s could regain the title after Sony or Sennheiser takes it from the Gemini 2’s. Lots of possibilities! Something tells me it’s going to be a great year for Bluetooth audio.
