I just can’t do it, I can keep seeking ways to avoid it. Since the release of the PI8’S, I’ve fallen in love with them and wrote more articles about them, more than any other earphone. I’ve hated them for battery drainage problems, lack of ANC, and their lack of support and swore to myself not to buy any more of their products. I have warned a great many people not to fall for these things and given many suggested products out there that should be their go to before these. All was going according to plan until my Samsung S24 ultra started to fail and not charge, forcing me to look for suitable replacement.

Only one direction was pressing me. Only direction or road not traveled, the Sony Xperia phone. Why? The camera, battery, but more importantly… The “Snap Dragon Sound”. The one codec I could never activate in my phone. It was also the one codec that was suppose to be better than all the rest and built into the DNA of several of my earphones like the Earfun, cambridge audio, and yes the mighty Pi8’s that I couldn’t ever truly listen too from a phone format and it always made me feel I was missing out on the best these could do so I wasn’t truly judging them fully on all they could do. This was my time to do this.

And so I did and I’m sure most of you already know what happened. All the PI8’S did was prove again why they are the best sounding earphones in the world. The best comfort and sound go so far with me. No matter how many other things exist wrong for these, I can never put these down and walk away from them like I built myself up to believe. So I decided to just let it go and stop fighting my attachment to these. They are what they are, my addiction for audio equipment and I can’t seem to put them down completely. Other brands deserve more use than they get out of but thanks to my love affair with these, that doesn’t happen.

The awards keep coming in about the PI8’S despite the shortcomings so it’s not worth fighting anymore. I just have to accept what they are and accept their dominance they have over the world of earphones. Yes, I would rather this comfort and sound be put inside the Technics Az100 or the Rex5 or the problems handled by the PI8’S but it’s not. All I do is keep returning to the PI8’S. The sound and comfort is completely different from all other earphones and I’m tired of trying to force myself to think differently about it. If I’m honest enough with myself I can see that this was always the case the moment I first listened to them, no matter how much they upset me later. At $319, as long as you understand about their short comings, and are willing to spend that type of money, this is the earphone to buy for sound quality/fit and comfort.
