The Noble Fokus Rex5 is truly making waves in the Bluetooth world of earphones. Over the past 2 months or so since getting these I’ve experienced some great highs and some small lows, like any other earphones in the world. Nothing is perfect and if I’m honest, on paper this is easily one of the last earphones you would ever confuse with being perfect and yet it’s in my top 2 or 3 Bluetooth earphones I will use. And this is because of the complex design and options they have. While they have 5 drivers (which don’t guarantee superior sound contrary to a lot of people’s assumptions), they have 3 different EQ options to affect the sound profile.

This, while great for those who are in the know, like Audiophiles. This can lead to some confusion to others. Or you could just be one of those people who refuse to use EQ’s and walk away completely let down by the absolute dead sound by default. Basically you have to truly be committed to the patience needed to nail in the audio sound that truly puts this in the top 2 earphones in sound on the market. Only then can you fully appreciate the masterful results of its sound in vocals(absolute best), its timbre, tonality, separation of sound is just one of the very best I’ve ever heard. The bass, frequency repsonse, and treble extensions all remind me of my $1000 IEM once you get it dialed in right.

Its build quality looks and attention to detail is just unmatched. For me it’s the best looking and best feeling Bluetooth on the market because it’s the first to mimic an IEM. It truly reminds me of all my expensive IEMs. They really put a lot of attention to detail into this. I love the aluminum case and alluminum earphone structure that matches the case. I love how light weight it is as well. Sure, it might not be great for all ears and yes I can feel them a little more than other smaller earphones but I can wear them for hours, so that counts, especially with the right tips. And speaking of tips, you will need to make sure you do some tip rolling, aka…trying on all the sizes and shapes of the tips that come with this unit because they do a great job of giving you multiple kinds and they all feel different and create different sounds.

I could just stop here and you would be happy in most cases. But I kinda saved my most impressive thing about the Rex5 aka Green Lanthern. The Rex5 has turned out to be the most reliable earphone I have for phone calls and stability in operation and listening. Not a single time has these crashed out on me, rebooted, stuttered, disconnected, or not connected. I can’t say the same for any other earphones in my top 5 earphones. Even my Az100 has started crackling and rebooting at times, and I thought they were pretty much perfect. But not these. People don’t complain about not being able to hear me on phone calls either like they do with my Pi8s. This is impressive because the Noble brand is more known for IEMs throughout their history. So how are they better at this than other brands?

It’s not perfect of course. They have basic battery life in usage times(5 hours if you use ldac) along with an annoying 30% battery warning that they promise to fix. They still fall short of meaningful features like ANC which is very basic at best and a basic ambient mode, both which should have been better at the $449 pricetag. And speaking of pricetag, the cost is just not right. I still stand on the fact that no earphone should run more than $299. So perfection is just not in the cards for these, not even close. But if sound, sophistication, unique looks, and phone call ability are your keys to success and you are willing to pay this price… Then you can consider this like most people are doing everywhere as they continue to sellout.
