There are so many great things you can get from Truthears for all sorts of price ranges. You don’t have to spend a lot of money to get something truly fantastic. All you need to do is understand what you are looking for and buy accordingly. And what I mean by that is that you have to understand your basic needs. Are you looking for something smooth and impactful? Are you looking for neutral with more bass or less bass? These things would affect how you feel about even some of the best implementation of earphones in the world and there is no difference even at lower cost. But the advantages of lower cost is that they don’t cost as much for your wrong choices or experiments.

Things like the Hexa that I’ve had for a while when I had my blessing 2 didn’t really make the priority over it or even close to it as some people hyped it be. But what it was, was an IEM that punched well above its price. So to that credit, I gave it. I didn’t really like the look or feel in my ear personally and the Bass was a little here or there at times. Sometimes it showed up to the party and other times it didn’t. So for me things like the Crinncle Hero Red was better than the Hexa for me because of the fit, looks, and the more consistent bass while still delivering true to life vocals and tonality.

So when I decided to test the Truthears brand again, I picked up the Nova. I also wanted to make sure I came to my own view and didn’t read reviews. What I immediately knew the moment I opened the package and placed them in my ears I knew they were for me. The packaging was more pleasing, the cable high quality with straight connection, and the look of the IEM was amazing. But what truly set it apart from all other Truthears was the fit and sound. For my ears this was easily one of the best feelings and easily placed units I’ve felt going into my ears from IEM. So when the sound hit, it didn’t take back and forth A/B’g to determine if it was better than the Hexa or Zero Red. It was apparent and thoroughly convincing. The dynamics, the slam, and tonality was flat out amazing and engaging. It was like this was made for my ears. Mixing this with the smooth frequency response like the Variation, which I would have kept if not for the Thieaudio IEM I got after. But now I got a similar sound back at a fraction of the cost and glad I didn’t now! Flat out Amazing.

These things look, sound, and feel like $300-$400 IEMs! I still can’t believe these things(I get that they are older) were less than $130 (on Amazon, right now). I absolutely love this generation of great tech for less. More and more companies like Truthears and others are really putting big price tech on notice. This thing is hitting like it had a truck behind it being pushed by Superman. It’s dynamic and the details are so impressive. Sound performance like this is the reason why I no longer have a $2000 IEM’s. I just couldn’t justify it. The cost didn’t show it was truly worth the cost when compared to lower cost IEMs. Basically, never got $2000 worth of sound or comfort, not even close.

And now with things like the Nova, at least for me, showing up just reinforces my belief that the law of diminishing returns still rules this area of the tech. And the Nova is better to my ears in sound and fit than the Hexa or Zero despite people’s claim that the Hexa is superior. The only thing I like more about the Hexa and Red is them not having a lot of cable microphonics sound. The cloth cable creates more noise for the Nova. But nothing continues to be perfect. It’s similar issues I faced with my Dunu and Thieaudio wires. At the end of the day this IEM is so good, and the scariest thing is that it seems to be getting better each hour of use. In many ways it reminds me of the Variation and Thieaudio Monarch 2’s combo, which is flat out a cheat code for anything to be a mix between them at $129.
