So now that I have my endgame, some are wondering about The Dunu Sa6″ Mk2. This IEM was the kilobuck killer. It was the reason why I got rid of my $1000-$2000 IEM’s. So what happens when these two forces meet? Does the Dunu still come out on top? Or was my article truly the end of the game with the Thieaudio?

The Thieaudio has no weakness basically. Everything played by it is sublime. There is nothing I could change about it that would make things better and that’s a big statement. The fit is perfect, the build quality perfect, and the sound is perfect. It’s basically the tribal master with it tribid driver design. A couple of years back tribid would demand $1000 now we get them for far less. Because of this and Thieaudio tuning is more exact and powerful for $589.

The Sa6 MK2, although older still retains one of the very best tunings on the market today. It was the one IEM that proved to me that I didn’t need $1000+ IEM. Mine sports a unique one of a kind color design that Dunu allowed me to pick instead of most people’s purchased ones that are random. So it holds a special place in my heart and will never be sold or given away. It was so impressive that I even got my wife one too. The sound is amazing and the IEM is so easy to drive so you get plenty of power. You also get the same choices of connections from balance to unbalance. The only thing it didn’t do well with is the driver balance is slightly off to the right on both units. So I don’t know if this is universal. The other thing is that the Sa6 isn’t really big on soundstaging opting to stay inside your head. Which is good at times but may not always be the case. And lastly the fit doesn’t always work for all ears and can be something that moves out of place or creates problems in some ears.

The Thieaudio, tribid driver beast is just on a different level. The power, the clarity thanks to the electrostatic drivers, the lush and realistic timbre and vocals thanks to the mid range flat neutral design that Thieaudio is known for just flat out does an outstanding job. You mix this with an amazing fit and venting along with an outstanding cable texture and flow to it and it’s not a very close race. You find yourself easily hearing the superior bass decay and texture, more realistic mid, soundstage, imaging, and treble details when using the Oracle MKIII VS the Dunu.

Best of all no issues with balancing of drivers, cable stiffness or comfort. It’s just the clear choice and best in the world under $1000. And even when you spend $1000 or more you will still not get the difference in sound quality to even justify the cost because the Oracle MKIII’s are that good. It’s truly an end to searching once you pick this up and use the 4.4 balance. For me, I have it all. Thieaudio just takes the crown for me yet again.
