Now I’ve never really bought into the Garmin brand as much as others have up to this point in my life. Part of that was because I just did it look at them as anything but a running watch and if you weren’t running, well then you have no business buying a Garmin:). Of course now, I finally understand more what this watch is and what it’s not. Now, to my credit, even Garmin had to do a little bit of rebranding in this approach to their message to the world about their products. It isnt just about running and truly is about life. If it’s not the amazing messages alerts from your phone, you sleep tracking, your stairs, workout, or even motorcycles and or AV’s, this thing has your back.

Even their new approach to the screens with their Amoled screens just makes it feel they built this in mind of me. I love the pop it gives off and the clarity and richness of the colors and text. It’s easily one of the very screens put on a smartwatch watch. It’s water resistant, and the UI is very complete and thorough in every aspect. It allows custom readout of the metrics that matter the most to you. It’s lighteweight and fits your arm perfectly . Best of all, it actually just allows the screen to turn off and remain that way until I lift my arm and cut off with the same twist of the wrist. Other watches I’ve had like the Tik watch always kepts some kind of screen up and I hate that.

They even make a non-amoled verse for the Instinct 3 just in case you want almost infinite battery life if you stay outside a lot under the sun because of its solar ability to recharge the watch. Other than that now all models give you way more than a week worth if not 2 weeks or more. This is a far cry from what the apple watch does. No water worries or watches that break before their time.

As far as what it does… Well just about everything but talk on the phone and allow touch controls. Now, yes I consider those things pretty big especially at the $500 price tag region for a lot of people’s needs. However, I don’t consider it a big thing for my life needs and I think that makes a big difference in individuals. And I think the opposite is true too.

Things like having a light on my watch is amazing. But the normal light and the red light are more effective in my life than most. I think a torch, next to a knife is essential in all lives, if you ask me. The Gshock body for protection and military standands are another huge plus for me. I hate the idea of things that don’t last and if I spend this much on a watch… I need it to be reliable. Which leads me to the final thing, reliability. Garmin is known for its accuracy and reliability more than any other tracking/sports watch. So finding it useful shouldn’t be a shock to anyone who has heard of it. From sleep tracking, text messages, hrv tracking, and recovery all come in handy with this 45/50mm watch(I picked the 45mm).
