Just when everyone was going crazy over the new Sony Xm6. Just when people were being told that the race was over now that the Sony xm6 was out. Bowers and Wilkin’s comes out with an amazing announcement! The greatest sound headphone brand has a new and even sexier headphone coming out again. The S3 design is such a great gut punch to Sony who has a bigger design this year. Bowers and Wilkin’s managed not only to get another headphone out right at the Hype of the Sony xm6 but creating this smaller and more form fitting is such a slap against the direction of bigger and bigger headphones. It’s so refreshing to see a company do this.
I can’t tell how truly exciting this is for me. All I can say is that this is like a dream come true. For years I have hoped for the return to smaller designed headphones. I have always felt that the direction of headphones were going too big and the industry had forgotten about the path of smaller design. So I’m so grateful that someone like Bowers and Wilkins was able to do this and more importantly at the cuff of the release of the much bigger Sony xm6.
Now of course, it’s not out yet so we don’t have the full understanding of the sound but if it’s Bowers and wilkins, it’s going to be something special and they have in the last couple years had better sound than all others. So I don’t see this going away with this product. They also manage to duplicate the same battery life in a small design, which again, is pure genius. Then there is the cost, $449. It’s not cheap but again, not more than the Sony. Xm6’s and yet better engineered in my opinion just on looks alone. Sure they don’t fold, which I give Sony credit for bringing back but I’ll take smaller and compact without folding than bigger and fatter with folding.
