I can’t tell you how many years I’ve found myself looking at the pixels and never picking one up for myself. All the way back when the pixel was known as the Nexus, I was in love with its design and its engineering. I remember watching the making videos of those phones over and over again growing up. I wanted one so bad every single year they came out but every single year I never ended up getting one until today.

Today I finally got one and while this phone doesn’t really equal the best or the fastest in the world of smartphones, it has its perks and uniqueness that I have come to love about the lineup of Pixels. The look, the camera bump, the quality of material, and of course the generic vanilla Android experience are all special things that stand out for me. But of course the thing that ties all this together is Gemini. Let’s not pretend that AI simulators aren’t turning the world upside down. Every week or month they get smarter and more useful. So having a phone with this at its core and focus makes the phone more personal.
And yes we all know that Google doesn’t keep its cards close to the chest as an open source company. Even my previous phone has most of the same options as my new Google Pixel 9 pro XL. But what all others miss out on it google’s optimizations for their brand. This is what makes their phone stand out and better than others. My last phone didn’t flow like the Pixel at all. So many compromised steps and actions that fail to operate like it should really hurt my experience with that previous phone. Not the case with the Pixel 9 pro XL.

They come in multiple colors and different sizes, as most people are aware of. I wanted the white one, honestly. However, the Matte Black version was my second choice. Best Buy nor T-Mobile had the white version( which is also my first time using them as my carrier as well). So I was glad that I at least didn’t have to land on the grey or pink. Not a fan of either of those colors. if I’m being honest.

I even went with the Pixel buds 2’s as well, another first for me. I didn’t buy them to be the best sounding . I wanted them to be the best connection for the Pixel, similar to what the iPods were to the iPhone. It reads my texts as they come in, connects to Gemini without needing to unlock my phone, still has decent sound, great fit, great battery life, and unique look.

It’s truly been a first time event during this whole process. New carrier, new phone, and new earphones all at the same time. Sure, I’m not sure how this plays out yet. It’s far too early to figure that part out. But I already have a better operation from what I had with the Sony Xperia. I have better signal strength and stability of phone calls than I had with Verizon. I even have 5GU inside my house, something Verizon could not achieve unless I left my house and got on the expressway. And I have the ability to hear incoming text, sending text, and other AI options that I never had with any other earphones since I left Apple and their airpods.
