I know, I know, the one single earphone I’ve praised since launch that isn’t named Bowers and Wilkins, is the Bose QC Buds 2’s. Well it got more praise from me today. Since I’ve switched carriers and smartphones and landed on T-Mobile for the first time and a Pixel for the first time in my life, I’ve since understood that not a lot of earphones will play perfectly with the Pixel. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve been really enjoying myself and all the options this smartphone brings to the table.
Nothing is perfect, of course. And if there is one complaint I have with it, it would be the inability to play nice with all earphones. I can’t use my Devialet Gemini 2’s for starters. They don’t ever connect, no matter what I do and yet they have connected to my Samsung and my Sony. My other big complaint is my Technic Az100 my favorite earphone, has a delay in latency with word sync and video matching. No matter what I do I can’t make it play in sync with the video and words. My Bowers and Wilkins, Bose, Pixel buds, Sennheiser all play just fine.

And so this has led me into listening more with my Bose. And boy has changed the game again. No matter how many times I come back to this unit and use them, the results are always the same. I find myself questioning why on earth I need something more than this $149 product? Phone calls, check. ANC check, best in class. Hear thru, amazing and check. Comfort top class and can wear for hours, check. Reliability, rock solid no drops, check. Custom touch controls with amazing accuracy, check. Battery life 11 hours beast without ANC and 8+ hours with ANC. Bass, one of the very best ever heard in Bluetooth and matching that of IEMs, check. Mids and treble details with amazing vocals and timbre, check. Separation and tonality on point, check.

“The Endless” is its nickname and deserving. My podcasts are masterful, my ASMR videos are dreamy. I don’t have to worry about the battery life being zero because I left them in the drawer without using them or charging them for a month. When I take them out, they are 100%. They are tiny and sit in my ears looking very classy. I can workout in them and or walk in the rain with them without fearing that they will not work anymore. And all of this is mine with this $149 earphone. Show me an equal! You won’t be able to, none exist and is the reason why I said these could easily be the pair you go with and never look back at more expensive earphones. I have all of them and honestly they don’t prove their cost over these. Sure you can get better categories in one or more areas individually but not as a whole.
