I have been very concerned for months and months over Superman. He is literally my favorite superhero of all time. Every single one of his movies I was in love with, if not for anymore than the fact that it was about him. The music, the cap, the fortress, his real name, his real father, and earthly parents, all of it just stands out different from any other hero. Superman symbol is the most recognized symbol on the planet next to the Cross. There is a reason. People just find something about themselves inside Clark, Kal-el, and Superman. But when the first two trailers hit, it went against all that has ever been shown about Superman and it divided the world.
The third trailer went a long way of correcting things. It continued the human element while balancing out the hero aspect of the character more. Yes, there was still scenes of suffering that I believe is pushing too heavy to one side still, but at least the relationships were being formed and connected. The interview with Lois was epic. The voice of Superman won me immediately, when he said “Miss Lane”. When he stood and said “People were going to die”..it just really made the connection and love Superman feels for humans stand out like it did in Superman 2 when he pleaded with Zod’s companions not to throw the bus or when he flew away knowing that as long as he stayed people were going to die.
That’s when it hit. That’s when the movie connected with my heart and I found Hope in the upcoming Superman. While I’m not a fan of the way it was done on the trailers pushing the weaker Superman. I appreciate the love and humanity found in his heart in the last trailer. I find the overwhelming need to save everyone is in his heart and it comes out in the latest trailer. I also appreciate the view of his earthly mother and father with their relationship with him.
Overall, there are still some concerns over the sure amount of character that are in this movie that I don’t believe they will develop properly because there are too many. I also feel that the proper story might be effected by the number of things and complications that these many characters in the first movie, that isn’t very long, will typically cause. But it’s James Gunn and I guess we will have to allow him to do what they have trusted him to accomplish. So far at least, I don’t believe they have remotely revealed anything even with 3 trailers. So this is good. We haven’t even seen Superman’s heat vision or X-ray vision in the trailers. So we just might have a completely different movie that people think once it’s all revealed on the screen. So, I’m finally excited more than I am worry about this movie and I can’t wait to see it next month.
