Well, looks like there is a small but annoying problems with the Xm6’s. Seems that the giant, Sony’s Xm6’s picked a material that seems to be discoloring within hours of use of the headphones. Reddit users are hitting up the form in question to this issue.

Even I have already started to see issues with my mine as well. Of course most people are trying very hard to support and protect the brand and the item by blaming the users. Most try and clean shame them, push back at them for even complaining about something so basic. But it’s not about cleaning as this can’t be cleaned up or reversed. It’s not about normal wear tear of age because it happens within hours of use.

As you can see above this discoloration is rapid and permanent. Reddit users have all reported trying to clean them, resulting only them getting worse, which is not good. Within hours this is what the Silver pads look like, then what happens in days, weeks, months , or years? I would hate to know what that future looks like.

So I am personally going to return mine by to Amazon and consider the black. It has been noted that the black one has the same issues but you can’t see it like you can with the silver. But regardless, it’s going to be interesting to see what Sony does about this, if anything. Personally, I think they should offer free replacement of the pads for all users and have new materials used on the pads moving forward. But something tells me that this will not result in this action because it cost too much.
