I’ve thought long and hard on the nickname for the Dx260mk2. With my dx180 now returned in favor of the Dx260mk2, only one thing was left for me to do, and that is give it a nickname. This was something I didn’t do with the dx180. Perhaps I knew it was not going to be the one I went with deep down or something, I don’t know. At least now I can focus on the one DAP and making it my source without consideration of something else in my house.

So as I started to consider what name would be fitting…it hit me like a gunshot out of nowhere, Soundwave. The transformer Decepticon of sound and music was none other than Soundwave and not only did he match the purpose and reason of the DAP he matched the colors of the silver and blue found in the dx260mk2. Even his form was that of a analog player for music matching the culture of audiophile. It’s almost a perfect match.

So this is the end result of my journey and now I finally have a perfect name for it. I thought about doing a review …so I guess that will be next since I gave the dx180 its review. I guess it will only be fitting to give the dx260 its just due being that it will be with me moving forward, on so I believe unless something crazy happens. But at $1100 I can’t see myself calling it quits very easily at this investment. This mixed with the amazing ie600 makes the best sound structure I’ve ever had …about 15% better than the dx180 combo with the Ie600. Did I need 15%? No. But now that I have it…I can’t say that 15% isn’t better, even if not worth the money for that small difference. I will though, still stand on the fact that I don’t suggest this direction over the dx180 for the vast majority of people out there, only the real gullible people, like myself that hunts down small differences while spending too much.
