Growing up I was always the kid that loved watches. I had my Casio watches like the Data Bank classic and love it. Of course I had gshock as well and many others that. But one brand that was really popular, even as a kid back then was Swatch. This was the cool kids watch. Mainly because of the cost. Back then Swatch was considered a Luxury, rich kid watch. It was so popular that a lot of manufacturers went out of their way to duplicate their style or flat out clone it. Fakes were abroad and it because the Air Jordan’s of watches. You either had a fake one on or the real deal.  I wasn’t in a household that approved of my watch habits and they definitely didn’t believe in the cost of such a thing. I always had the “almost Jorden” shoes and the almost Swatch watches.

Fast forward today and I’m blessed enough to have tons of watches, even watches from brands like Tag Heuer or IWC are now on my wrist. But even after all my collecting, I’ve never gotten that childhood Swatch itch handled. And now that can scratch it, along with the fact I’ve never brought a Omega the collaboration between the two intrigued me greatly. However, the look of the Omega X moonswatches never connected with me. Even on the side of the standard Omega watches themselves, outside of the typical James Bond watch people wore far too many times, in my opinion, their design never connected with me over my IWC’s of the world either.

But when I saw the Grey and White 1965, something clicked. The color mix is exactly the look I wanted. There is something about Grey and White that is truly doing it for me. It brings this cold winter vibe with it that sticks out amongst the standard colors or even the more bright colors that Swatch is typically known for. So immediately I bought it at the Swatch store while on vacation in Canada.

The very first thing I did was flip the band so that the longer band was at the bottom instead of the top, which was off that it was created and shipped the opposite, which would cause crazy fitting issues for anyone. Then I ordered the new band and had it shipped back to my house in the States. After that it was time to wear it. It felt really nice and light. Some complaints I’ve seen is about it being too light. For me, once I have on my wrist …it doesn’t matter one way or another for me. Another thing I liked it that it did take on the temperature of my skin. This is awesome in my opinion because it makes it blend in better to your body and skin. I’ve had it when my watch is colder than my wrist and you notice it right away in the winter. This won’t do this.

Fact: Biocermic is better than standard plastic

This is something people don’t think about while they are trying to bash this item and other Omega X watches. Some  looked at it as a threat to their Omega brand and others hated it because some many people wanted it and couldn’t get the one they wanted or just hated hyped up products. Either way, the watch and the calibration is controversial and interesting, to say the least. So you will get those who can find no wrong in the watches and then those who can find no right in the product. I like to think of myself as the middle ground. No this is not a 8k-10k Omega watch. But at the same time, it’s not a fake Omega. Omega the brand isn’t based off the cost. If this was the case then the 500k Omega SeaMaster watches can make the argument that the 8k watches don’t deserve to be called Omega Seamaster because they aren’t at their quality.

And you can see how ridiculous this could get based on the ignorance of people. The 1965 is a Omega watch, period! This is not like fake Air Jordens were Nike didn’t approve of anyone taking their design without approval and partnership. Omega did and because of this, it has every right to be called a Omega, because it is. It is also Swatch, which owns Omega. The two creating the Omega X Swatch extension of watches is a milestone and should be seen for what it is, a way to sale to more people with the brand in hopes of sparking interest and brand loyalty that will lead to more expensive purchases possibly. It was a risk and it paid off.

I don’t care what you think, this is gorgeous!

And the risk produced success which means more integrations. This is how we ended up here with this colorway to celebrate the ending of the testing of the qualifications for Space that Omega did to be chosen to be with the astronauts that walked in space and the moon(If such a thing ever took place). Even the absolutely beautiful white face combo with light grey is suppose to be a nod to the surface of the Moon.

Basically, you have one of most beautiful watches I’ve seen in years and is easily the best of all the moonswatches Omega X Swatch has done because fans love it. Everyone says the same thing about it’s color scheme and raised Omega sign inside the watch face being the stand out features. For me I’ve been looking for a white face watch that I connected to for some time now and this was just the 3 birds with one stone event I couldn’t pass up.

Got to love how easy the color goes with so much! It’s one of those things that become more and more yours as the days goes by. And again, will this replace the IWC topgun? Not a chance. But this doesn’t make the watch “a toy” as some try and say to cut it down or create lies or fear about the product. Seiko for years, if not still today, can’t figure out a product that has aligned bezels and markers. But nobody ever called Seiko a toy or horrible product because of the quality control vs the amount sold. Same thing exist for the Omega X lineup. Over a million sold world wide. Of course you are going to hear about a small ratio of those sold with problems. But you aren’t abandoned. They make things better all the time. Problems that first existed, no longer exist. .

You can even change out the band for different looks

And at the $300 pricetag, I believe you are getting a good watch for the price and I’m not worried about the lies or fear pushing about the brand collaboration. It comes with a 5 year warranty, same as rolex, oddly enough. It comes with a free battery replacement for life but you have to send it back to them or their local stores or buy them yourself. But ultimately, the brand is taking care of you and you shouldn’t have any problems if you are just not abusing your watch.
