I think this is the most controversial piece of tech that I have ever brought myself. I can’t remember a piece of tech that I bought 3x and returned them 2 of those times prior. Every time I buy this product, I tell myself that it’s not good enough and end up keeping my Supernote Nomad over it. And yet every time I buy it again, it’s always because I feel no connection with my Nomad like I did with the Pro Move. Yes, the Nomad has this amazing community and even has some apps like Kindle and a drawing app. It has the feel-write 2 screen layer and an infinite pen tip type of pens available. It also has a replaceable battery and board accessable to the user. On paper, it’s just the better of the two because it has more available to it. Even has digital Stickers, which is the best thing ever. So why the Remarkable Pro Move?

So why then on earth would you buy a Remarkable Pro Move at basically $600? Oh, and not once or twice but 3x? Short answer, I’m addicted to the tech and stupid, I guess. It’s like I can’t shake the need to have it. It’s so portable to me and so writing-focused. It might not connect me to Kindle Ebooks, but I can write and write infinitely down a scrollable page for hours. Something I can never do on the Supernote. I can highlight and add color to my notes, making them pop and have life to them. I love the auto shapes I can draw, and yet zoom in and out. I also have a light I use when in the dark, making using it anywhere even more of a thing. Oh, and to show you how drastically simple things can make life easy and mean so much to you when you don’t have them anymore, Erasing is not a right, it’s a privilege. Basically, I can turn my pen around and erase with one hand…something you can’t do without two hands and two fingers on the Nomad.

Being able to leave my to-do list up on my screen even while the device is another thing you just take for granted when it’s gone( although I just got this updated on the Supernote as well). And even though the battery life isn’t what they claimed it to be…I have an amazing fast charge time on the device, so I don’t miss a beat. Admittedly, this was one of my biggest complaints, and the upsetting thing that I wanted to return it about in the beginning, but got over it. Sure, I won’t have Stickers, which is literally the only real thing I will miss about the Supernote Nomad. Surprisingly, I never used the Kindle app or the drawing app after the initial “try everything period” you have when you first buy something. So it isn’t a big deal that I don’t have them on the Pro Move. You might feel different. But to me, the whole simple direction of just writing and being on the go anywhere at any time is far more desirable than having a device that is limited to having to be around light and only being in black and white.

Ultimately, what I have is a tablet that can use Stickers, read the Kindle directly, has an amazing surface on it, infinite tip pens, with a great community, and a user-replaceable battery and board. Vs a Tablet with amazing software integration that connects to the web to sync any webpage or pdf to it, has a light, color, infinite scroll, one-handed erasing, and a form factor made to go anywhere that I keep rebuying over and over again. I can write with both, but I honestly don’t connect the same way with both. I know on the surface, the Nomad is the better tablet, especially for sitting down under a desk. But the Pro Move is the more uniquely fitted for on-the-go writing and go anywhere writing, even when you don’t have light. Do you see my problem here?

The one thing that both have in common is their way and timing of letdowns. When I first bought the Pro Move, it had a ton of issues and problems with templates. When I returned it and got the Nomad, the Nomad couldn’t stop crashing in the Kindle app, and I hated not having the screen saver be my last page. I bought the Pro Move back, and it turned out to be one that I didn’t like, the speed and sluggishness of the pinch-to-zoom and scrolling. So I returned it. Supernote had me reformate my Nomad and redownload their new app for Kindle to fix my crashes. It never worked, still. Heard about all the updates on the Pro Move and the bug fixes, so I went back. But just as I did and started to make arrangements for the Nomad to be sold, the fix the Kindle app and added a screen saver’s last page options came. So now I’m sitting here with two tablets that have bug fixes.

Ultimately, I have to begin with honesty with myself. I think the reason why I have bought this 3x is that I’ve always just wanted this to work. Every time I have purchased it, it was always because of some problem that was said to be fixed, and I wanted to have it again because I knew what it could be. And now that all of my complaints about the lag, stuttering, over-flickering, and the pen writing line consistency have been all handled, I have the unit I fell in love with, but without the “arguments”:). The Pro Move was always the First Love device, whereas the Supernote, even the A.I. Note, were the devices I got because I was mad at the Pro Move. I never needed the Kindle, Freewrite 2 screen, or A.I. Transcription. Those were just my excuses to focus on because I was heartbroken over my first Love. So yes, I’ve missed the Pro Move. It was my first love, and it’s really hard letting go of that one.
