Well that was fast! The Best Bluetooth earphones in the world right now went on sale already. The wf-1000xm6 haven’t been out for 30 days and already Sony has discounted them. I knew sales were going to come but I expected it to happen way later than this. Personally, I believe this is because of two possible issues. One the fact that Samsung Galaxy buds 4 pro showed up on the scene and stole the thunder from Sony is one.
Even I haven’t found a way to put these things down because they are so convinent. And I bet they are selling like hotcakes, especially at the price of $249 when compared to the Sonys $339 pricetag. Which leads me to the second reason, price.
I am betting that Sony counted on everyone rushing out and buying these for longer weeks than they did. The release of the Samsung Galaxy buds 4 pro really hurt them. And instead of being the hot topic for the next couple of months, the Samsung buds 4 pro took over the excitement way too soon. So now they need a new buzz to get things going again for the momentum.
There is no doubt that I still believe they are the absolute best out there right now. I hate myself for having both of these earphones, as I know the time is coming before I have to make a choice, before I can’t return them. My mind says keep the Sony and return the Buds 4 Pro’s, but my heart says keep the Buds Pro and return the Sonys..
Every time I get to a point where I’m sure I’m going with the Buds 4 Pro, things like this morning happen, when my neighbor’s dog wouldn’t stop barking and yet I didn’t want music at the time and just wanted it quiet. I used my Sonys immediately because I knew that without music, my Buds 4 Pro wouldn’t silence the dogs enough.
Right now, sitting in my comfortable Lazy Boy writing this article, I have my Sonys in my ears, and they feel warm and cuddly while the soundtrack of Dune plays, immersive and spacious. The sound is, without a doubt, the best out there, and even without my ANC on, using them passively, the quietness is almost as good as the Samsung Buds 4 Pro ANC. Add the incredible battery life and battery protection tech they put inside the software to make sure you have your earphones for years to come and you got a winner. And yet, I look like I have bolts in my ears, like a science experiment 😡.
Of course, not as cool as this look, right? And I think this is starting to be heard by Sony. The reviews are in, and most people complain about the same thing I said from the very beginning: the foam ear tips and size of the Sonys. People are willing to take a hit on sound quality a little for the sake of having something in their ears that fits and looks cool versus what the Sonys look like. And I know that you shouldn’t wear earphones to look cool, but you also don’t want to wear earphones to look silly.
Personally, I think they look better outside my ears than in them. They look so cool in the picture above. I just wish they didn’t stick out so much. But at the end of the day, it isn’t beyond consideration to see something make Sony change their price. Will it help them sell the XM6s? I don’t know. I think once your momentum is broken in the tech scene, it takes a lot to fix it and redo it again unless some major movie actor or musician shows up on the scene wearing them and starts a trend or something. I will say if they had come out after the Buds 4 Pro’s… This would have been easier to take over and maintain until the next big tech earphone company comes out. Let’s not forget Sennheiser and Master and Dynamics are typically still due in the future..
