Everyone always attempts to predict what Apple’s next move will be and when. Most of the time, it’s always wrong about one or both of those steps. The perfect example of this is with the new camera AirPod rumors. Everyone was claiming that they are releasing in the next few weeks or months. However, reports are now surfacing that this was never the case and that Apple had no intention of releasing them this year at all or even introducing them.

Frankly, I never even considered such a thing for my next purchase. I don’t want anything to do with more tech that has more cameras on them. I never bothered with the glasses or AR tech lenses they have now. So why would I want my earphones to have a camera on them? The point of AirPods and how they fit on you doesn’t even make sense if you are putting a camera on them. But nobody is saying this. It’s actually a little off-base to think a company would even want to put a camera on your earphones, in my opinion, at worst that you would want it. So I’m actually glad that Apple doesn’t seem to be bringing this one into the light, at least not right now.

My gut tells me if this is real at all, it’s a gimmick and not something that scales to be actually useful tech, or it’s just a connection piece for Apple Vision. I don’t believe this will have any effect on your sound or what earphones are used for at all. This, I believe, is the main reason why it might be just a concept at this point. Typically, for Apple to launch a product like this, it has to have an already established purpose and more than just a default app to support in the market. Just putting a camera on earphones wouldn’t move the needle for anything at this time. But I could be wrong.
