You know what they are, and here’s the kicker: it is almost impossible for you to be living without ever seeing them around in the U.S. This could be said for other countries too, but I’ll stick to the U.S. for this article. For me, I’ve never had a better experience in my life with Bluetooth earphones than the magic I experienced with AirPods. There is nothing that can come close to the overall dominance they have led the way with for smartphone accessories. No other Bluetooth earphone in the world today is more praised, used, or bought, PERIOD. This FACT alone makes every other objectionable opinion irrelevant if it’s isn’t in support of these earphones being #1.
There are AirPods, and then there is everything else. I don’t care what brand you get. I don’t care what it does or doesn’t do. I don’t care how much it costs. I don’t care how many times reviewers have awarded it or given it credit for being superior to others. Nothing matters but facts, cold hard facts. AirPods as a whole are the greatest accessory and Bluetooth earphone of ALL TIME standing at 18 billion in total revenue! Let that set in for just a second. 18 billion for a accessory!!!!
They are absolutely gorgeous, and the design is the most copied accessory of all time, the most cloned accessory of all time, the most important game-changing accessory of all time. I mean, I could keep going about the dominance of the ANC, the dominance of the hear-through, the dominance of the voice quality and clarity on phone calls, and the dominance of the most convenient item of all time. There are so many ways to say and prove that something like this is the most important accessory and Bluetooth earphone of all time. I challenge anyone to come up with any earphone, ever, that has this kind of dominance. You can’t! This is the truth, and it can’t be debated as subjective anymore. These are just facts!
Now if this doesn’t mean anything to you and you personally prefer something else, that’s fine. The funny thing is, Airpods are so dominant…Apple’s own fanboy hate on their own product. Why? Because even Apple is divided. They own so much the market share that it the same people who rock iphones find a way to dislike their own brand models. People dislike the Airpods Pro 2 vs those who Love the Airpod original or the Airpods 4 who dislike the Airpods Pro 3 or any Pro. It’s really quite ugly out there reading forms from people who live and breathe Apple find reason to segregate themselves. It’s the pathetic nature of humanity.
But if objective truth is what we are talking about for all AirPods for the rest of the sane world, this game is over. Even as an Android phone user, you cannot justify any way to truly prove this wrong. The AirPods are so dominant and so factual as the best lineup of earphones to ever exist, that taking any other stance only makes you look foolish because you can’t present a single item in the history of Bluetooth earphones that is more dominant. It’s truly a joke when others claim to hate these facts. It doesn’t mean you can’t find a different path for yourselves. Nor does it mean you can’t find something else more to your liking in one area or another. But to ignore the dominance of this accessory in the history of Bluetooth or to dismiss it is just ignorant. I don’t have to buy something to acknowledge its success and overall dominance. I don’t even have to like it.
Are there earphones that sound better? Yes. I have several earphones that are said to sound better on paper or in graphics, but they can’t provide anything more than sound. They aren’t great in ANC, hear-through, or phone calls, and sometimes they’re even weak in comfort, convenience, or reliability. This is why Apple rules: because they check all those other boxes. They don’t have to have the greatest sound; they just need a sound that is amazing or unique because they cover and dominate all other things.
Not going to lie, this almost hurts me to admit such things. Missing things like reading my text messages and having voice-activated Google Voice have been my biggest criteria for ruling out Bluetooth in the past. And yet, this amazing-sounding AirPod Pro 3 has no access to these things while I use my Android phone. I think once the Google Voice ability started to mess up a couple of months back (I think it went down for a bit) for my products, it became less and less important. And after it was fixed, my phone or earphones would just stop listening to my voice commands randomly for the Sonys and Samsung. If I fixed it for one, it wouldn’t work for the other for some reason. And every few weeks, I would have to redo the Google Voice activation setup all over again. It became annoying more than a convenience.
And once that was unreliable, having my text messages read became useless because I still needed to pull out my phone to respond. So it stopped being that huge thing to have for me because it turned into an unreliable gimmick more than an actual dependable, needed, and thoughtless function. When that happens, things like the basics matter more: phone call quality, ANC, Hear-through, sound, battery life, portability, and convenience. Who knows, maybe if I get an iPhone, I can have most of that back, and it will again be convenient. But Apple iOS still bores me, honestly. Even the thought of the Passport Fold design doesn’t work for me.
