The Noble Osprey is just gorgeous. If nothing more is said that you agree with, I think you can at least agree to that. The Wizard knows what he is doing during his creation of this product for looks at the very least. That blue is so pleasing to look at, even the case looks amazing. Noble Audio seems to always nail this aspect of earphones. Not going to act like this should be a shock to me. I even really love the name of this product, “Osprey,” even though I have a nickname for it.
Now, on to the real stuff that most will care for: “Sound.” Sound is a huge factor, folks. It’s easily one of the best-sounding earphones in the world of Bluetooth, tipping into IEM territory as well. This thing is flat-out amazing in its power, dynamics, volume, vocals, and bass. And when you take the time to truly EQ them the right way, it threatens even its own $500-$699 products in sound. But you have to make sure you do this EQ properly. None of the presets will deliver this, nor will the app that takes measurements of your hearing deliver this either. You have to make subtle changes only, not huge EQ shifts, because it will destroy the ability for the unit to be properly balanced for the sound that Noble is known for. And I will admit, for me it took a minute to get this full experience dialed in. For a while I felt the Airpods pro 3 were better in the sound still. But they clearly are not now. This is how important the right EQ is. BUT to be fair.. some consider EQ cheating especially when you comparing two earphones against themselves and are using EQ on one but not the other. But being honest against, I don’t think the Airpods EQ’d would beat these in sound(it’s the other stuff that it wins in).
It’s something that truly stands out among all my earphones as the most powerful-sounding Bluetooth earphone with the right EQ. Even the Rex 5 would be running for its money against its younger brother. The soundstage is nice, and the imaging is on point. But easily the star of the show is having one of the most layered fast bass available in Bluetooth and one of the loudest (20-30% is all you will ever need in volume), also matching its older brother. Yes, Airpods are beat, yes pi8 are beat, and yes even the Gemini 2 Devialet are beat by this overwhelming power and sound dynamics. In fact the only earphone in the world that arguebly would almost match it’s own more expensive brothers. Noble is just that good but the fact that even this $199 version could even battle it’s older brothers in sound begs the concerns as to why spend more money if this is available and sound so close to them? On top of that there a many that have all of the Noble earphones and still say this is the best sounding even over the the most expensive and previously mention Rex 5.
Onto the fit and comfort. These things fit so well into my normal sized ear. It’s to the point you could make an argument for them being one of the top 3 best-fit earphones in the world subjectively for me. They fit me like an IEM, which is one of 3 reasons I got this unit. They have that ability to disappear and fool your brain into believing that sound is happening around you and not in your ears.
They also have a decent Ambient mode and actual good ANC; even their passive NC is impressive. This was a shocker to me and a welcome surprise because I’m tired of this being the compromise to the point you never use it. At least this time, it’s useful.
Another impressive thing I found was the 35 hours of total battery life available on the unit and case. It really stuck out over the last trip I took when my AirPods case would run out of juice, and I would have to charge many times. I didn’t have to follow the path of charging times on the Osprey as I did with my AirPods Pro 3s. It felt good knowing that when I picked up the case and earphones, I didn’t have to worry about the case needing to be charged daily.
The good news is that I was previously very disappointed about the lack of ability to control the ANC and Ambient mode on the earphones themselves, requiring your phone and app. I was not happy about that at all. Why? Because they did a piss-poor job of informing the consumer in the app. They limit you to controlling forward, rewind, and volume with double and triple taps; no other controls were given or mentioned. I had to find out in an AI video that I’m supposed to hold down the left earphone plate only to cycle through ANC, Ambient, and off modes. When I found this, I was so excited and re-energized about these earphones. But at the same time, I was still kind of pissed that they did such a bad job of informing the buyers.
My next gripe was with the lack of wireless charging. Come on, Noble, it’s 2026. We’ve got to have that from Bluetooth earphones these days. It’s not that hard to implement. I’m thankful for the cost, but you could have put it at $240, and I would have bought the item just as fast if that meant getting wireless charging. It’s like that case was made for it, and you just went back and took it out.
The last thing that was compromised was phone call quality. While this was impressive in quiet rooms, it struggled when I was just in the lobby of the hotel earlier this week. The person on the phone could not hear my voice all the time because the mics don’t truly focus on your voice; they focus on all sounds, which is not good. Sure, you can say this is the same with the Rex 5 or any Noble product. I just thought as time went by, this would be fixed by the company after the first 3 tries at the very least.
Despite the complaints though the Noble Osprey did enough to earn a nickname, “Blue Lantern”. And while not perfect, it presents a huge problem for anyone trying to defeat it in its true strength, Sound, even its own brand. It truly makes people who were considering buying a more expensive Noble Audio product pause at the thought of the Osprey. I give it an 8.5 out of 10 for what it does and what it is, especially at $199.
