The iPhone Duo is the biggest thing Apple has done in years. The amount of sure shock and love over this product was interesting at the very least. Shocking because people literally believed that this was the first Foldable Phone. This is the type of mindset that is in the ecosystem. And I’m not talking about people being facetious or anything. You had tech reviewers and and tech writers and reporters acting like this was the first time a company has done something like this ever, when just months ago Samsung released their 8th version of their Fold and the fist Passport style.

People also acted like this was the first phone to have camera tricks like auto snaps and behind-the-screen hole punch-outs for the camera lens. Basically, Apple just wins on assumptions alone. This is what drives their buyers and at the same time makes buyers like this such easy targets for anyone who halfway followed tech and already knew these things were done or on the market long before Apple announced them, to make fun of them.

This is why I picked the Fold 8 for my choice for my next foldable. And I’m pretty sure this is the same reason why Korea did too. If you didn’t know, Korea is the main reason foldable phones are selling so well. They make up over 60% of all sales for foldable, it’s been reported. And they use way more than just Apple and Samsung for foldable phones. So this tech and all the advancements that exist for it they are on the cutting edge of it. They have seen it all.

So when Apple finally showed its hand and all Korea saw was the same gimmicks for the camera and screen animations, it didn’t impress them. They finally knew that they could pick the Fold 8 as their choice after seeing the cards that Apple laid down on the table; and they didn’t want it and those are just the facts. However, I don’t think their sales will matter now that Apple is in the game. American reporters and writers can’t even understand that the gimmicks Apple showed and even the design of their first Fold is old tech that Apple once again made relevant in America based on uninformed consumers who didn’t even know that Samsung has been doing this for the last eight years. I don’t know if I’m supposed to be impressed by Apple being able to pull the wool over their eyes or feel ashamed that there are people who’s job is tech that didn’t even know the camera tricks showed off by Apple and foldable phone itself were already done for years and that Apple didn’t just invent it..

Look, I get that people love Apple. But this doesn’t make ok to be this detached from reality that you believe that all of what you see is somehow something they, and they alone, invented. It’s a shame that a company has that much control over people that they really believe that Apple just invented Foldable Phones and camera gimmicks like animations to make the kids smile for picture. This is the type of things that does encourage you and a consumer to ride with Android. It’s like I don’t want anything to do with this kinda of hive mind and blindness about a company that you believe these things.
At the end of day, people will line up and buy the Duo, and it will reshape foldable phones forever in America for the next 2 years. You will see a spike of ownership of foldable smartphones, trust me. And this is a good thing. It should make others come out to challenge with better tech. This way we all win on some level.
