Why are you acting like iPhones, let alone a new style of iPhone, are not about to reshape the whole world? I don’t care what you prefer or what OS you have. You all know that Apple is about to rule the foldable world and there is nothing Samsung or anyone else can do to stop it.
The cost of $1,999 does not matter; in fact, this is one of the biggest selling factors. Most people thought this phone was going to cost much more than this. Also, let’s stop acting like this is the first $2,000 foldable phone. If Samsung can justify it and sell millions, Apple can too, and will sell more than that. I am an Android guy, and yet I still know where this is heading. It may not happen immediately, and you might not hear from Apple until the next convention about their sales numbers, but trust me, they will be coming. The announcement that they have outsold the competition will happen to the sound of thunderous applause. And every single person who claimed that the Duo was overpriced, not worth it, or not better will be in line for theirs sooner or later.
Apple just knows how to sell things that are simply done to the point that they look magical. This is their bread and butter, and nobody can match them at this. Every time someone tries to duplicate it, it only shines a light on the hard work Apple put in to make theirs so much better implemented. It also proves that it means more than people want to admit if you have spent the time copying.
Look, I get it more than most. I have the Z Fold 8 and think the world of it. And yet, even I am still looking at the return period as a countdown to my final choice: iPhone Duo or Z Fold 8? I have used the Samsung brand and Android for a couple of years now. Even I still understand there is a difference in the quality of things like their photos, which stand out even when comparing the camera abilities of earlier iPhones to present-day Samsung photography.
So yes, I can admit again, yes, I know the iPhone Duo pictures will be better than my Fold 8 even if I have a Fold 8 or prefer Android. I am honest, if nothing else. Even in video, everyone knows Apple rules Samsung there too. They are literally broadcasting a baseball game with nothing more than a bunch of iPhone 18 Pros to show off the abilities. And if that is not enough, they are the camera taken on the moon flight just months ago. Talk about a resume! This is what Apple does.
And yet, I still stand here writing this article on my Fold 8, still in fascination. The design is perfect; better than the Duo design, is the Fold 8. The lightweight build is better than the weight of the Duo, and the thinness of the design is better than the thickness of the Duo. The freedom of Android to make it exactly the way I want is something I cannot comfortably learn to do on a jailbroken iPhone. I will have to give up my LDAC and aptX codecs and even returned to Siri over Samsung AI features. Finally, there is the sale price of $1,600 versus $1,999. All of this offers a real advantage for the Fold 8 in my opinion. There is nothing I have to relearn or truly lose, like Samsung Pay if I went back to the iPhone. So you see, I understand if the iPhone is inevitable for a great many people; it is just not inevitable to me. I still find the Fold 8 my jam.
